In the anime its shown in the end Naruto needing to study for the Jonin exam, personally I feel the exam would be more practical with in field testing via sparring and so forth. In chess to attain the rank of grandmaster one must reach an elo ranking of 2500 or more plus at obtain a draw against 3 diff grandmasters in a tournament settings. I feel this could apply to Jonin exam where you would have to complete a certain number of missions then be nominated by a Jonin or the village Kage; at which point you would be matched in 3 separate sparring matches against 3 different Jonin, in front of judges, who would test you in Genjutsu taijutsu and ninjutsu during the sparring match, where you would have to at least be on even grounding with them by the end of the sparring match. Those are my thoughts what do yall think it would look like ?

pretty sure there is no Jonin exam. IIRC, it was stated somewhere that you become Jonin by recommendation…

I think that was one part of it yes. But they have had exams for other ranks as well. There has to be more otherwise why would Naruto still be a genin?

Kakashi got promotsd to jounin with an incomplete technique so it’s based on situation i guess

Nah, there’s a training exam. Every Chunin in the Hidden Leaf Village has to take it.

I thought Chunin were simply appointed to the Jounin rank, likely getting approved by a panel or commission? Or perhaps the Hokage directly?

I thought so too a first, but then that begs the question why wasnt Naruto ever promoted?

Good question. During most of Part 2, there was a lot of upheaval by the time Naruto had the maturity to be Jounin so that makes sense it didn’t happen, in my opinion. But as for why it didn’t happen during Kakashi’s brief reign, who knows. Maybe it wasn’t seen as necessary since everyone knew Naruto would be taking over as Hokage?

Thats why i figure there must be more to it then just simply oh ur a Jonin now. Maybe theres was a writing portion Naruto never could pass. I mean lets get real he is pretty dumb. He is lucky to have Skikamaru as the brains to his Hokage tenure.

Do we know for sure Naruto is still technically a Genin during the Boruto era? Cause the Kakashi Gaiden definitely made it seem like ninja became Jounin by appointment, not some formal exams like the Chunin exams…

I would say no because Hokage should be a rank, but some argue that Hokage is not a rank, which i disagree with.

Джонин (上忍, «Верхний ниндзя») — высококвалифицированный и весьма опытный ниндзя со значительными индивидуальными навыками, который исполняет функции военного капитана и, как правило, в состоянии использовать минимум два типа Сейшитсухенка. Их часто посылают на миссии ранга А, а более опытным Джонинам могут даже доверить миссии ранга S (самые сложная категория заданий), которые они могут доводить до конца в одиночку.[1]
Чтобы стать Джонином, нужна рекомендация. Если достаточное количество жителей Какурезато и соответствующий Каге сочтут шиноби подходящим для ранга,он будет повышен.[2] В аниме еще один способ стать Джонином — участвовать в экзамене Джонина.[3]
Когда ниндзя становится Джонином, они могут быть назначены в качестве командира для трёх Генинов. Их долг будет инструктировать и обучать их, чтобы стать компетентным ниндзя. Они также могут решить, когда Генины готовы участвовать в Чунин Шикен.

Они долгое время тренируются вместе и выполняют различные миссии. Джонин также лично решает, готовы ли его ученики сдавать экзамен на Чунина или нет. Любой из высококвалифицированных Джонинов может стать Каге, как это было в случае с Какаши Хатаке.
