В 150 часовом курсе есть расширенный спец курс Teaching online — как преподавать онлайн.

  250 часов

Однако есть альтернативный способ подтвердить свои знания языка — экзамен Duolingo. Из чего он состоит, как его сдать и какие вузы принимают результаты — в нашей статье.

Преподаватель английского для иностранцев – это универсальная профессия, спрос на которую сегодня высок практически повсюду. Работать учителями за границу едут не только носители языка, но и те, кто им хорошо владеет. Однако чтобы обучать других, недостаточно уметь просто говорить по-английски: нужно знать методики преподавания языка. Потребность хотя бы в минимальной подготовке большого количества учителей привела к появлению множества курсов по преподаванию английского как иностранного, которые по завершении выдают своим участникам подтверждающие сертификаты. Когда в вакансии преподавателя за рубежом указано, что требуется предоставить сертификат TESOL – речь идёт именно об этом.

TESOL – Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages – это аббревиатура, которая обозначает сертификацию преподавателей английского для не-носителей языка. Чтобы получить сертификат TESOL, нужно пройти курс по методике преподавания в какой-либо образовательной организации. Не существует единого стандарта курсов и сертификата TESOL, хотя есть несколько наиболее признанных его вариантов – CELTA и Trinity TESOL.

  • Чтобы сделать первые шаги в профессии преподавателя английского;
  • Чтобы подтвердить или повысить свою преподавательскую квалификацию;
  • Чтобы преподавать английский как иностранный за рубежом.

TESOL, TEFL и TESL – в чём отличия?

Кроме TESOL в требованиях к преподавателю можно встретить такие аббревиатуры, как TEFL и TESL. Формально они обозначают другие виды сертификации для преподавания английского как иностранного, у которых есть свои особенности:

  • TEFL – Teaching English as a Foreign Language – обучение английскому как иностранному. Позволяет преподавать в странах, где английский не является языком общения. Например, в Китае.
  • TESL – Teaching English as a Second Language – преподавание английского как второго языка. Относится к преподаванию в странах, где английский язык является основным: например, преподавание английского иммигрантам или туристам в Великобритании, Канаде, США.
  • TESOL – Включает в себя техники преподавания EFL (English as a Foreign Language) и ESL (English as a Second Language) и, таким образом, комбинирует в себе TEFL и TESL. Позволяет преподавать по всему миру.

На деле названия TESOL и TEFL часто используются как взаимозаменяемые, и некоторые курсы так и называются TESOL/TEFL. Тем не менее отличия есть, и лучше выбрать сертификацию в зависимости от желаемой страны трудоустройства и требований работодателя. Например, сертификаты с курсов TEFL/TESOL сегодня востребованы в азиатских странах: Китае, Таиланде. Не следует путать сертификацию TESOL с магистерскими программами по преподаванию английского для иностранцев, например, Master of Arts in TESOL.

Кто требует сертификат TESOL?

Сертификат обычно требует работодатель за рубежом. Например, в вакансии может быть указано «Требуется сертификат TESOL/TEFL или аналог». Также сертификат может понадобиться для получения рабочей визы в азиатские страны. В некоторых случаях требуется легализация сертификата в посольстве страны, на курсах которой он был получен. При этом посольство должно находиться в стране работы. Например, если кандидат собирается работать в Таиланде, и его попросили легализовать британский сертификат TESOL, нужно обратиться в посольство Великобритании в Бангкоке.

Как получить сертификат TESOL?

Сертификат TESOL можно получить после прохождения специального курса:

  • Очно в России;
  • Очно за рубежом;
  • Онлайн.

Из чего обычно состоят курсы TESOL?

  • Лекции о методах преподавания тех или иных аспектов языка;
  • Семинары с групповой работой;
  • Письменные работы – задания по пройденному материалу, эссе, составление планов уроков, наблюдение за уроками участников и преподавателей и их оценка;
  • Практическая часть – проведение уроков на занятиях или с реальными группами.

Отметки, полученные на протяжении всего курса, – как правило это отметки за письменные работы и практику – формируют итоговую оценку и являются основанием для выдачи сертификата.

Как выбрать курс TESOL?

У курсов TESOL есть одна большая проблема: не существует организации, которая создаёт единые стандарты и контролирует все программы по методике преподавания английского иностранцам. Из-за этого такие курсы растут как грибы после дождя, и качество некоторых из них, как и ценность выдаваемых ими сертификатов, остаются под вопросом. Не улучшает ситуацию и то, что на некачественные сертификаты существует спрос, так как некоторые иностранные работодатели – это характерно для азиатских стран – принимают их как бумажку для соблюдения формальности. Доходит до того, что пользуются спросом «курсы», которые можно купить за копейки на сайтах с купонами и пройти за пару дней. Кое-кто даже предлагает платные услуги по прохождению курсов TESOL/TEFL вместо сдающего и выдаёт готовые «сертификаты». Понятно, что в обоих случаях такие сертификаты ничего не стоят. Что делать тому, кто хочет пройти хороший курс, где он сможет действительно чему-то научиться и улучшить свои профессиональные перспективы? Есть два выхода:

  • Самостоятельно проверить качество выбранного курса по нескольким критериям – несмотря на хаос в сфере сертификации TESOL, хорошие курсы всё же существуют;
  • Пройти курсы, которые признаются работодателями во всём мире – CELTA и Trinity TESOL.

Если выбор сделан в пользу курсов TESOL/TEFL, то самым лучшим вариантом будет поехать в англоязычную страну, чтобы полностью погрузиться в языковую среду. Кроме того, в англоязычных странах такие курсы более или менее пытаются контролировать со стороны государства. Более доступным способом по деньгам являются курсы в своей стране. Наконец, самый экономный способ – это онлайн-курсы. Их преимущество – возможность подстраивать время занятий под себя. Кроме того такие курсы позволяют хорошо сэкономить: можно проходить зарубежный курс, не покидая собственного дома. Однако у них есть и ощутимый минус – онлайн-взаимодействие с участниками и преподавателями не сравнится по качеству с реальным присутствием на занятиях и педагогической практикой под пристальным наблюдением профессионалов.

Как найти качественный курс TESOL/TEFL в России, за рубежом и онлайн

  • Не полагаться на заявления о наличии «аккредитации». Если организаторы курса утверждают, что у них есть аккредитация, то речь может идти и о частных аккредитующих компаниях, которые могут даже не контролировать качество курсов, а только собирать взносы за членство, а их названия могут быть пустым звуком для работодателя. Это не значит, что хороших частных курсов не существует. Можно положиться на аккредитацию от нескольких крупных институтов вроде British Council, Ofqual, ODLQC, ACTDEC, TESL Canada и нескольких других. Некоторой гарантией может являться то, что курс находится при университете – значит он регулируется какими-либо образовательными стандартами, например, национальными.
  • Общее количество часов – не меньше 120. Есть ознакомительные курсы с меньшим объёмом занятий, но сертификат такого курса для работы не подойдёт. Если участникам и вовсе предлагают пройти курс всего за несколько дней – такой курс никуда не годится.
  • У курса должна быть адекватная цена. Можно найти курс за 19 USD но получения качественного сертификата TESOL не стоит. Реальность такова, что даже хороший онлайн-курс стоит минимум несколько сотен долларов.
  • Курс должен иметь отзывы. Необходимо почитать отзывы о курсе на разных ресурсах и, возможно, связаться с их авторами, чтобы узнать подробности.
  • Преподаватели должны иметь хорошую квалификацию. Хорошей квалификацией является, например, наличие магистерской степени в TESOL или сертификат DELTA.
  • В курсе должна быть практическая часть. Практика очень важна, ведь студент может проверить свои навыки в деле и получить обратную связь. Практическая часть реализуется даже в онлайн-курсах, когда студент снимает свою практику на видео. Чем больше объём практической части – тем лучше. Лучше, если он составляет не менее 6 часов. Если на курсе предлагают просто посмотреть видео и прорешать тесты – брать его не стоит.
  • Образовательная организация должна быть открыта для диалога. Сюда относится и качественное взаимодействие с клиентами, и открытость информации о программе курса и других важных деталях обучения.

CELTA от Cambridge

CELTA – Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages – это курс для преподавателей английского как иностранного в линейке сертификаций Cambridge.

  • Подходит начинающим преподавателям и преподавателям с небольшим опытом;
  • Возраст участников – 18+ лет;
  • Уровень английского С1+;

DELTA – наивысшая квалификация преподавателя в линейке Cambridge

Преподаватели английского могут получить также диплом DELTA (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) – это трёхмодульный курс, который предназначен для преподавателей английского с минимум 1 годом опыта работы и уровнем английского C1–C2. В трёх модулях оцениваются письменные работы и один экзамен, причём к модулям 1 и 3 можно подготовиться самостоятельно и сдать их, не посещая курс. Для этого можно использовать ресурсы для самоподготовки. Если участник пройдёт сертификацию DELTA успешно, он получит одну из трёх положительных отметок по возрастанию – Pass, Pass with Merit, Pass with Distinction. Certificate TESOL от Trinity College London

Это курс TESOL от Trinity College из Лондона, который предназначен для тех, у кого нет или мало опыта в преподавании английского. Требования к участникам – возраст от 18 лет, среднее образование и отличный уровень английского, который проверяется на собеседовании. Курс состоит из 5 юнитов и длится около 5–6 недель. CertTESOL можно получить более чем в ста аккредитованных организациях в двух десятках стран: Аргентине, Австрии, Бразилии и других, включая Россию, некоторые предлагают онлайн-курс. Сложно ли получить сертификат TEFL/TESOL?

По отзывам некоторых участников, получить сертификат на курсах TESOL/TEFL в среднем легче, чем, например, на курсе CELTA. Однако другие говорят, что это зависит от школы: качественные курсы TESOL/TEFL очень интенсивны, и не все участники успешно их завершают. It is enough for employment to complete 120 hours. We recommend it for beginners. The package includes 6 modules, 150 hours — 10 modules, 250 hours — 21 modules. Of course, a different number of modules assumes a different set of topics covered.

  150 hours

The Master Course includes 150 hours of training and shows an employer that you have put in more effort than the standards require. The package involves modules about business English, English for academic purposes, as well as methods of teaching language in a college or institute. Besides, there is a module dedicated to content-language integrated learning CLIL — a popular pedagogical method in foreign education.

  250 hours

The Expert Course is the recognition of your expertise by employers and the opportunity to earn above-average salaries in the industry. Benefits are in deep learning the Business English that takes 40 hours, Online Teaching (40 hours), and Teaching of Children (40 hours). A bonus to this course is composing a personalized reference letter, which can be a plus for your CV.

Flexible training schedule and the ability to additionally purchase special courses

How long is access to courses valid?

You study at any convenient time from anywhere in the world, the schedule and pace of learning are determined by yourself.
Some people complete the course in a couple of weeks, others in a couple of months. It depends on how much time per day you are willing to devote to training.
If you practice for 5 hours a day, then you can complete the course in a couple of weeks, if you do 30 minutes a day, then in a couple of months.
Access to the course for the PRO and MASTER packages will be available to you for 6 months. For the EXPERT package — for 8 months.
If necessary or at will, you can extend access to the course (the function is available if you did not have time to complete the course and receive a certificate in the allotted time).

Is it possible to separately purchase special courses from the program for 250 hours?

Мой опыт в прохождении TEFL / TESOL онлайн

Как вы уже поняли, мой выбор остановился на получении этого сертификата именно в онлайн центре. Кстати говоря, TEFL и TESOL это вообще 2 разных курса и сертификата, но мне удалось получить сертификат TEFL/TESOL пройдя один курс. В принципе TESOL включает в себя программу TEFL, но а про их разницу вы можете прочитать по ссылке.

В итоге мой выбор остановился на одном из британских центров. Я решила проверить то, как они работают, написав им предварительно письмо с интересующими меня вопросами, и ответ получила очень быстро. Перед тем, как купить у них курс, я изучила всю информацию на их сайте. Было видно, что сайт работает действительно хорошо и к тому же открыт был несколько лет назад, а значит уже имеет определенный авторитет. Плюс ко всему центр имеет аккредитацию от достаточно известной международной организации IARC. Перед покупкой я все-таки решила сравнить количество информации о курсе, который предлагает этот центр, с той информацией, что дают сайты Киева и Москвы.

К моему удивлению большинство из них не давало полной информации о себе, своих программах, а иногда даже и стоимости. Про органы аккредитации практически никто ничего не писал, программа курса описывала лишь общую структуру, а про трудоустройство было в лучшем случае сказано пару слов. Что же касается британского центра, то нехватки информации на его сайте не было, а ответ на мое письмо дал все недостающие для принятия решения данные.
