Of course, there are some people who never worry about examinations. Such people can be very self-confident or examinations just mean nothing to them. There are different forms of examinations. It can be an oral exam or a written one. For example, written exam can be a test or an essay. Sometimes it is possible to resit an examination if you get a bad mark or completely fail an exam.	Существуют различные формы экзамена. Это может быть устный экзамен или письменный экзамен. There are also different kinds of examinations. It can be an entrance examination, a school-leaving exam, a comprehensive examination, a mock exam and so on. For example, the results of a mock exam influence nothing. They just show whether students are ready for a final exam or not. Besides, it allows students to feel what an exam is. People take an entrance examination to enroll at a university, for example. A school-leaving exam shows the pupil’s level of knowledge.	Существуют также различные виды экзаменов. Usually, university examinations are held twice a year: in winter and in summer. They mark the end of a semester. The form of examination depends on a particular field of education. Before the exams many student feel nervous, lose appetite, suffer from insomnia and anxiety. So the question “Are exams necessary?” seems to be relevant. Why do all students have to pass the exams at certain stages of their life? Well, first of all, the exams are there to access and to find out actually what the students know. This helps teachers to set the standards for children of different ages and abilities. Secondly, if there are no exams, then children won’t want to learn. Exams are like accelerators of studying. Thirdly, exams hold teachers accountable for their teaching. So, the exams are made up not only for students, but for their teachers as well. The question whether exams should exist or not is being discussed and debated for many decades. Many people claim that examinations are subjective. They test only a limited range of skills. Besides, students suffer from the consequences of stress and anxiety during exam preparations. This often results into poor performance in exams, even if a child was well prepared. Opposed to this many psychologists say that children need a positive accomplishment. They need to be pushed towards higher achievements. So from this point of view, exams are even more useful for students, than for assessors. Parents should be also interested in exams, as they develop their children’s survival skills. Exams make students stronger and more confident. Not only they show a visible progress in certain field, but they also encourage students to strive for more. Поэтому возникает актуальный вопрос: “Нужны ли экзамены?” Почему все студенты должны сдавать экзамены на определенных этапах жизни? Ну, прежде всего, экзамены для того, чтобы выяснить и понять, что в действительности знают студенты. Это помогает учителям устанавливать стандарты для детей разных возрастов и с разными способностями. Во-вторых, если не будет экзаменов, то дети не будут хотеть учиться. Экзамены выступают ускорителем процесса учебы. В-третьих, экзамены налагают ответственность на преподавателей за их работу. Таким образом, экзамены не только для студентов, но и для их учителей. Вопрос о том, следует, проводить экзамены или нет, обсуждается и дискутируется на протяжении многих десятилетий. Многие люди утверждают, что экзамены субъективны. Они проверяют лишь ограниченный спектр навыков. Кроме того, во время подготовки к экзаменам студенты страдают от последствий стресса и излишней тревоги. Это зачастую приводит в низкой успеваемости на экзаменах, даже если ребенок был хорошо подготовлен. В противовес этому многие психологи говорят, что дети нуждаются в положительных достижениях. Их нужно подталкивать к более высоким результатам. С этой точки зрения, экзамены еще более полезны для студентов, чем для самих проверяющих экспертов. Родители должны быть также заинтересованы в экзаменах, так как они развивают в детях навыки выживания. Экзамены делают студентов сильнее и увереннее в себе. Они не только показывают заметный прогресс в определенной области, но и заставляют студентов стремиться к большему.

Нужны ли экзамены?/ Are Exams Necessary?

If you go to school or university, you are faced with a number of exams. Basically, these exams are supposed to test your knowledge and skills. Also, they may motivate you to study harder.

In my opinion, it is really the case that exams motivate students to study harder. Firstly, exams are often a pass to a higher level of education. If you get good marks in examinations, you are admitted to further education. If you fail, you do not get the admittion. So, you make every effort to keep the right to study further. Secondly, exams are a good way to assess your learning efficiency and detect possible gaps in your knowledge. Bad marks mean that your knowledge is flawed and you need to be more disciplined and work harder to do away with the flaws.

But there are people who believe that examinations do not give real motivation to a student. They say that being a good student with excellent marks does not guarantee future prosperity.

Nevertheless, I cannot assent to the foregoing opinion, because being a good student is the beginning of being a good employee or worker who can earn a good living. Highly qualified professionals are always in great demand in any business sector.

In conclusion, exams play an important part in our life, although any exam is a kind of pain. But the saying is: no pain, no gain!

Are exams a fair way of testing students? (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays students have to take lots of exams in order to get a school certificate or university degree. Some people believe that exams provide a great way to check students’ knowledge. Others are of the opinion that it does not seem to be fair.

In my opinion, exams are really important. To start with, they help teachers to evaluate students’ performance at school or university. It is quite fair as all youngsters are in equal conditions. They get the same tasks and time to show their knowledge. Moreover, exams are beneficial in terms of testing organisation skills. Students have to develop their time management skills as well as do a lot of revision, which can be extremely helpful in the future.

However, there are some people who are opposed of the above ideas.They claim that it is more important to test knowledge in a practical way.

For example, they have to make some experiments or do researches. This way, they will show deep understanding of the subject.

Nevertheless, I do not agree with the above opinion. There is no doubt, that providing all necessary equipment for school laboratories might cost a fortune and only a few schools can afford it. Schools also might face the problem of safety.

To sum up, although practical skills might seem valuable, I strongly believe that exams are a fair and cheap way to test knowledge. Students get a chance to improve their school results.

В настоящее время студентам приходится сдавать много экзаменов, чтобы получить школьный аттестат или высшее образование. Некоторые люди считают, что экзамены предоставляют отличный способ проверить знания студентов. Другие считают, что это не выглядит справедливым.

На мой взгляд, экзамены действительно важны. Для начала они помогают учителям оценивать успеваемость учащихся в школе или университете. Это вполне справедливо, так как все молодые люди находятся в равных условиях. Они получают те же задачи и время, чтобы показать свои знания. Кроме того, экзамены полезны с точки зрения тестирования организационных навыков. Студенты должны развивать свои навыки тайм-менеджмента, а также много пересматривать, что может быть чрезвычайно полезным в будущем.

Тем не менее, есть некоторые люди, которые выступают против вышеуказанных идей. Они утверждают, что более важно проверить знания на практике. Например, они должны провести некоторые эксперименты или исследования. Таким образом, они покажут глубокое понимание предмета.

Тем не менее, я не согласен с вышеуказанным мнением. Нет сомнений в том, что обеспечение всего необходимого оборудования для школьных лабораторий может стоить целое состояние, и только несколько школ могут себе это позволить. Школы также могут столкнуться с проблемой безопасности.

Students of all educational institutions normally take examinations or tests to show they have gained enough knowledge to move to the next level. They are a significant part of the curriculum. I don’t think students like the exams, as they make them anxious and stressed. However, I’m sure that everybody should take part in testing system. It motivates us to study better. If we don’t have exams, then there is no need to study.

I know that some people are self-motivated. They are ready to study because they simply like it. However, it’s rather seldom. Most students prefer cheating, instead of studying. They do it mainly to get a certificate but not knowledge.

Nowadays, there are two types of exams: state and international. State exams are held in every public secondary school. At the end of the 9th and 11th forms all students have to take these exams in several obligatory and optional subjects. Russian language and Mathematics are considered to be obligatory. At the same time, every student can choose two or three optional subjects. If I were to choose, I’d prefer Spanish and English.

International exams are rather popular these days. Almost any teen or adult can take part in these exams. They are internationally recognized exams, which test your knowledge in different areas. I would like to pass such exam in English and get a certificate with good grades. Other professional areas of international exams include business, law, programming, accounting, etc. In conclusion, I’d like to mention one more advantage of exams. They discipline people and teach them to work and study regularly.

В настоящее время существует два типа экзаменов: государственные и международные. Государственные экзамены проводятся в каждой государственной средней общеобразовательной школе. В конце 9-х и 11-х классов все студенты сдают эти экзамены по нескольким обязательным и выборочным предметам. Русский язык и математика считаются обязательными. В то же время, каждый студент может выбрать два или три предмета на выбор. Если бы мне пришлось выбирать, я бы предпочел испанский и английский языки.

Международные экзамены довольно популярны в наши дни. Почти любой подросток или взрослый человек может принять участие в этих экзаменах. Это международно-признанные экзамены, которые проверяют твои знания в различных областях. Я хотел бы сдать такой экзамен по английскому языку и получить сертификат с хорошими оценками. Другие профессиональные области международных экзаменов включают бизнес, право, программирование, бухгалтерский учет и т.д. В заключение я хотел бы отметить еще одно преимущество экзаменов. Они дисциплинируют людей и учат их работать и учиться регулярно.

Exams motivate students to work harder (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Some people think that exams stimulate pupils to work harder, while others believe that they don’t improve the academic records.

I agree with the first point of view. When students know that at the end of the year they will take an exam, their attitude towards the subject changes. Firstly, they attend classes more regularly because they know that later they have to demonstrate their knowledge. Secondly, they listen to the teacher more carefully and do home tasks more thoughtful. No one wants to fail.

However, there are people who say that exams do not impact on learning outcome. Exams don’t motivate students but make them nervous. Moreover, some students cannot cope with the stress and fail exams.

Personally, I disagree with the opinion above. To start with, the preparations for the exams influence academic records positively.

When a student prepares for an exam, he definitely learns more than he would if there was no exam. Furthermore, as for the stress that students experience during exams, it is important to learn how to handle your fears and nervousness. In the future, they will face more serious problems, and they need to learn how to behave in difficult and stressful situations.

To conclude, I would like to say that exams play an important role in educational process. They make students to study harder and help them to learn how to cope with stress.

Некоторые люди думают, что экзамены мотивируют учеников работать усерднее, а другие считают, что они не улучшают академические показатели.

Я согласен с первой точкой зрения. Когда студенты узнают, что в конце года они сдают экзамен, их отношение к предмету меняется. Во-первых, они посещают занятия более регулярно, потому что они знают, что позже они должны продемонстрировать свои знания. Во-вторых, они более внимательно слушают учителя и более вдумчиво выполняют домашние задания. Никто не хочет потерпеть неудачу.

Однако есть люди, которые говорят, что сдача экзаменов не влияет на результат обучения. Экзамены не мотивируют студентов, но заставляют их нервничать. Более того, некоторые студенты не справляются со стрессом и не сдают экзамены.

Лично я не согласен с мнением выше. Начнем с того, что подготовка к экзаменам положительно влияет на успеваемость. Когда студент готовится к экзамену, он определенно учится больше, чем если бы экзамена не было. Кроме того, что касается стресса, который испытывают студенты во время экзаменов, важно научиться справляться со своими страхами и нервозностью. В будущем они столкнутся с более серьезными проблемами и должны научиться вести себя в сложных и стрессовых ситуациях.

В заключение, я хотел бы сказать, что экзамены играют важную роль в образовательном процессе. Они заставляют учеников учиться усерднее и помогают им научиться справляться со стрессом.

Экзамены  это не только  объективное оценивание знаний учеников, но и не простое испытание для многих школьников.  Они влекут за собой стрессы и переживания.  Для подтверждения вышесказанного обратимся к примерам.

  С одной стороны, я за проведение экзаменов. Это лучший способ проверки знаний школьников.  На экзамене дети могут проявить свою самостоятельность и организованность.

 С другой стороны, я против экзаменов. Во-первых, дети могут растеряться  и не справиться с заданием. Во-вторых, дети очень волнуются, так как хотят сдать успешно экзамены и получить хорошую оценку. Но не могут справиться с волнением  и не могут решить не только задания, но у некоторых начинается даже истерика. Еще одна отрицательная сторона наших экзаменов, состоит в том, что часть экзамена проверяется компьютером, а как известно техника может ломаться и давать сбои. И из-за этих недоразумений страдают дети. Компьютер может не распознать подчерк ребенка и засчитает ответ не правильным, даже  если тот написал и решил все верно.

В заключении мы видим, что аргументов против экзаменов больше. Поэтому, я считаю, что экзамены нам в такой форме не нужны.

“Exams motivate students to study harder”

Education is an integral part of every person’s life. It has become an unwavering procedure for all the school leavers to take exams in order to determine the level of their knowledge recently. That is why some people claim that this process makes them do their best to succeed in it while others assure it does not prove anything. So, who is right? Let us speculate about it.

I am strongly convinced that exams are of great practical value. Firstly, whereas preparing for the exams, students have to deal with a great quantity of material. Therefore if they do everything on time, it will help them to fill in the existing gaps in their knowledge. Additionally, exams upgrade some personal qualifications, making the students more organised and mature in facing various problems and coming up with right solutions. Consequently, they will be better at arranging their workspace in the future.

Nevertheless, we can find a contrary opinion on this contentious assumption. They state that exams themselves are nothing else but a pure luck phenomenon. They also claim that it is frequent for school leavers to guess the right answer while passing the exam.

I cannot completely agree with the above-mentioned opinion about the phenomenon because the whole educational system has been developed to delete all these accidental right answers, thus quite the reverse, leaving much space for students to demonstrate their own abilities and knowledge.

All in all, I reckon that this suggestion has its rational kernel as well as the ground under the feet but I still strongly believe that the exams are great motivators in the whole educational process.
