THE TASK

Imagine that you are doing a project “Life without gadgets” together with your friend. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2,5 minutes be ready to tell the friend about the photos:

• Give a brief description of the photos, justifying the choice of the photos for the project
• Say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos for the project
• Mention the advantages and disadvantages (1-2) of two types of books;
• Express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you would like to live without gadgets and why 

You will speak not more than 3 minutes (2-3 sentences for every item of the plan, 12-15 sentences total). You have to talk continuously.

THE ANSWER

Hi, … I hope that you haven’t forgotten about the project we are going to do together. You know, I have found a couple of great pictures for it.

In the first picture there is a girl with a book in her hands and some other students looking for paper books in the library. In the second one a girl is holding an eBook. She must be at home judging by the furniture and that she is alone in the room. I think that both of these photos properly illustrate the topic of our project. The first one shows the traditional way of keeping and receiving information from a paper book, while the second one presents the modern way of living which is impossible without gadgets like eBooks. Both pictures together provoke reflection and arguments about our topic.

These two pictures have a couple of differences. Firstly, they underline two different types of books: a paper book and an eBook. Secondly, the presence or absence of the need to go to a public place to take a book is a significant difference too.

I suppose in the project we have to mention the advantages and disadvantages of two types of books. It’s obvious that reading an eBook saves our time as we don’t have to go to the library or a bookshop; also it’s often possible to find and download an eBook for free. As for advantages of paper books I would say that it’s easier to understand information and data especially if we are talking about educational literature with graphs and tables.

As for me I can’t imagine my life without gadgets. I’m sure we need to use them as they help us live a better and easier life.

Hi, Lisa! I’ve found two photos for our project «Life without gadgets» and I’d like to tell you about them.

The first photo shows a girl in a library holding a book in her hand. She might be looking for some information for her project. The second photo depicts a girl sitting on a sofa at home. She is holding an e-book in her hands and probably doing some research, too.

These photos have some differences. Firstly, the girl in the first picture is not using any gadgets, she is reading a book, while the girl in the second shot is using an e-book. Secondly, the girl in the first picture is surrounded by other people who also do without gadgets and work together in order to exchange their knowledge and experience, whereas the girl in the second picture is studying the material alone, as everything she needs is in her e-reader.

I think that both kinds of books have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, printed books are too heavy, especially when one needs several books at once. However, they do not do any harm to people’s eyesight when used for several hours on end and this is a real benefit. As for electronic books, they have a considerable advantage – it is very convenient to search for specific information within a document, but there is a drawback – such books are not accessible if the e-reader or other gadget is broken or its battery is dead.

In my opinion, these photos perfectly illustrate our project. Firstly, we can see that life without gadgets is possible because there are plenty of books with all necessary information, as the first photo shows. Secondly, nowadays we need to have quick access to  information, and in this respect the girl in the second photo definitely has an advantage over the girl in the first photo.

As for me, I wouldn’t like to live without gadgets because they help me a lot in all spheres of my life. For example, I use them to do my homework, chat with

friends who live in other cities, listen to music and watch series. Life without gadgets is my idea of hell.

Недавно вышли новые демоверсии экзаменов. Выпускники обратили внимание: в 2022 году формат 4 задания из устной части по английском языку немного изменился. В статье расскажем про новые требования, разберем ответ 4 задания по английскому. 

Изменения 2022

Вообще, 4 задание устной части ЕГЭ по английскому представляет монолог-сравнение двух картинок. Прошлые варианты требовали написать сходства, различия, выбрать наиболее приглянувшееся изображение. 

В 2022 году 4 задание ЕГЭ по английскому языку несколько изменилось. Теперь экзаменуемый делает проект, для которого требуется записать голосовое сообщение, описать картинки, выбрать одну, наиболее подходящую к теме. Дополнительно требуется выразить собственное отношение к теме проектной работы. Максимальный балл за задание 4 из устной части ЕГЭ по английскому — 10. Говорить разрешено максимум 3 минуты. Текст должен состоять из 12-15 предложений. В номере перечислены следующие пункты плана: 

1. Дайте краткое описание картинок, связав с темой проекта — не менее 2 связок для каждой картинки.
2. Сравните изображения, найдите различия. Требуется включить минимум 2 связки с темой.
3. Выделите преимущества и недостатки (1-2) объектов, явлений, размещенных на фотографиях.
4. Объясните, какую картинку стоит выбрать для проекта, почему.
5. Выскажите свое мнение по теме. 

Пример ответа

Напишем пример ответа 4 задания устной части ЕГЭ по английскому:

«Hi! Have you looked at photos I sent you by email? I believe photos are suitable for our project on topic «Life without gadgets».

1. In first picture my mother in student years. At that time students were no gadgets, so main place to search information was library. Reading was very popular at that time. In second picture my cousin Kate. She can’t imagine life without gadgets, belongs to generation that is dependent on them.
2. There is no doubt that photos are different. In first picture an environment free of gadgets, where people read paper books. Second picture shows ability to read books from home using an e-reader.
3. I believe that paper books have advantages. For example, you can take notes while reading. Disadvantage is that you need to constantly go to library to get new books. Advantage of e-readers is that you can download a lot of books there. Disadvantage is that you may forget to charge it.
4. I believe that pictures perfectly illustrate theme of project. First one shows life without gadgets, which can be interesting, active. Second reflects inextricable connection of modern generation with technology.
5. As a person of modern generation, I believe that we need gadgets. Gadgets make life brighter, can help with entertainment, study, work».

В экзаменационную работу 2022 г. были внесены изменения в разделы 4 («Письменная речь») и 5 («Говорение»).

Раздел 4 «Письменная речь» состоит из 2 заданий с развёрнутым ответом.

1. В задании 39 предлагается написать электронное письмо личного характера в ответ на письмо-стимул зарубежного друга по переписке. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение задания 39 не изменилось — 6 баллов.

2. В задании 40 необходимо создать развёрнутое письменное высказывание с элементами рассуждения на основе таблицы/диаграммы и выразить своё мнение по теме проекта. Задание 40 является альтернативным заданием; экзаменуемый выбирает один из предложенных вариантов задания (40.1 или 40.2) и выполняет его. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение задания 40 не изменилось – 14 баллов.

Время выполнения письменной части работы увеличено на 10 минут и составляет 3 часа 10 минут.

Раздел 5 «Говорение»

1. В задании 2 (условный диалог-расспрос) сокращено количество вопросов, которые должен задать участник экзамена, с 5 до 4. Соответственно, максимальное количество баллов за выполнение задания 2 – 4 балла.

2. В задании 3 (условный диалог-интервью) необходимо ответить на 5 вопросов интервьюера на актуальную тему. Каждый ответ на вопрос интервьюера оценивается от 0 до 1 балла. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение задания 3 – 5 баллов.

3. В задании 4 предлагается оставить голосовое сообщение другу, вместе с которым выполняется проектная работа. В этом сообщении надо кратко описать две фотографии-иллюстрации к теме проекта, обосновать выбор фотографии-иллюстрации и выразить своё мнение по теме проектной работы. Максимальное количество баллов за выполнение задания 4 – 10 баллов.

Время выполнения заданий устной части работы увеличено на 2 минуты и составляет 17 минут.
