— mention the advantages and disadvantages (1−2) of the two types of preparing for exams;

— express your opinion on the subject of the project  — whether you prefer preparing for exams alone or in somebody’s company and why.

Hey, Kate. You know that? I’ve just found two pictures suitable for our project “Preparing for exams”. Let me tell you a bit more about them.

They are relevant to our project because in both pictures we can see students preparing for their exams. In the first photo there is a girl doing some tasks in her room. While in the second photo there is a group of students sitting around the table in the library and reading books.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. For example, the first picture depicts an individual work, the girl is preparing for exams alone, maybe she is attending some online courses, whereas the second picture shows a group work, four students prepare for exams together.

In my opinion, both types of preparing for exams have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, a student working alone can concentrate on studying better than working in a group where everybody is chatting. At the same time, an individual work can not enable students to ask for help if a problem seems to be too difficult.

Personally, I prefer preparing for exams in my friends’ company. We can analyze, discuss and solve problems together. It helps me very much.

So, shall we use these photos in our project? Call me when you’re ready to discuss if we can use them. Bye-bye.

Speaking: task 4 на ЕГЭ по английскому

Hello again! На связи Миля, преподаватель английского языка из «Новой Школы». Предлагаю научиться решать задание №4 из раздела «Говорение».
Так будет выглядеть задание во время сдачи устной части ЕГЭ на компьютере:
Это задание нового формата, и появилось оно в 2022 году. Максимально за него можно получить 10 баллов, а за всю устную часть — до 20 баллов. Задание №4 считается самым сложным в данном разделе.
Суть задания
Вас просят представить, что вы выполняете проектную работу вместе с другом на определенную тему. Вам нужно записать голосовое сообщение другу с объяснением, почему вы выбрали данные фотографии для иллюстрирования проекта, а также выразить свое мнение по теме
Регламент
На подготовку к ответу дается 2 минуты 30 секунд. Во время сдачи устной части нельзя делать никакие письменные заметки, поэтому нужно уметь составлять текст в голове. На сам ответ отводится до 3-х минут; практика показывает, что при должной подготовке и заранее выученном шаблоне этого более чем достаточно. На протяжении всего говорения на экране компьютера высвечивается таймер.

Инструкция по выполнению задания

Ознакомиться с шаблоном, выучить его. Заранее подготовленные фразы-клише помогут не допустить ошибок и сильно сэкономят время на экзамене.
Внимательно прочитать условие задания: тему проекта, предложенный план из 4-х пунктов. Рассмотреть фотографии, подумать, как их описать, какие различия выявить. Сразу наметить преимущества и недостатки согласно пункту №3 из плана.

Пример:
«Preparing for exams»
1) preparing alone at home
+ it’s easier to focus in silence
— there is no one around to help
2) preparing with classmates in the library
+ it’s more effective to revise the material by explaining it to other people

Перед тем, как начать описывать фотографии, нужно обязательно произнести вступительную часть: поздороваться с другом и сообщить, о чем вы собираетесь ему рассказать.
Описание и различия нужно обязательно связывать с темой проекта, в шаблоне уже имеются для этого все необходимые фразы.
При ответе на последний пункт плана (ваше мнение) необходимо соблюдать формулировку, данную в задании: если спросили «you prefer», отвечаем «I prefer». Могут быть другие формулировки: you’d prefer, you’d like, you preferred in your childhood и т.п.
Свой монолог заканчиваем прощанием с другом: этот пункт указан в методических рекомендациях, как и вступление.
Советую практиковаться с помощью диктофона без заранее написанного текста. Так как во время экзамена в одной аудитории может находиться от 2-х до 4-х человек одновременно, стоит быть готовым к отвлекающему шуму. Полезно готовиться к говорению, включив на фоне телевизор или музыку. Прослушайте свой ответ и по возможности отправьте его на проверку компетентному преподавателю.
Чем больше вы практикуетесь, тем легче пройдет устная часть на реальном экзамене. Эта формула работает безотказно!

Критерии оценивания
Критерий 1: решение коммуникативной задачи (максимум — 4 балла)

Краткое описание, объясняющее выбор фото для проекта, дано
Различие между фото, объясняющее их выбор для проекта, дано
Достоинства и недостатки (1-2) названы
Мнение автора по п.4 выражено

Типичные ошибки:

Нельзя повторять одну и ту же мысль в разных пунктах
Все высказывание завязано на теме проекта, различия не по теме не принимаются
Отвечая на вопрос из пункта 4, следует употреблять ту формулировку, которая указана в задании

Критерий 2: организация высказывания (максимум — 3 балла)

Есть вступление с обращением к другу и заключение
Текст логичный, использованы средства логической связи

Типичная ошибка:

Друг не видит фотографии, поэтому избегаем формулировок «you/we can see», «left/right photo»

Критерий 3: языковое оформление высказывания (максимум — 3 балла)
Лексика и грамматика соответствуют уровню В2, используются синонимы, допущено не более 3-х негрубых лексико-грамматических и/или фонетических ошибок. Ошибки, искажающие смысл сказанного, считаются грубыми. Нельзя смешивать британское и американское произношение.

How to prepare students for ЕГЭ (EGE) exam

I’d like to share here my personal experience of preparing students for EGE exam. I’d be really happy if you share your ideas on this important issue too. And here I’m trying to answer 3 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

1. How often do you meet and how much time do you spend with your EGE students?
a) We meet twice a week after lessons and study for about 2-3 hours (including tea break).
b) My students also prepare for EGE during their English lessons since there is no meaning in doing what standard students do. I usually give them the plan of what they have do study themselves and show time limit.
Ex: “Do Murphy’s Grammar, Units 3-5. You have to finish in 2 lessons”
c) The students also have their homework (grammar, vocabulary, tests, etc) since most of the workload must be carried by them. The teacher is there to help with the study plan, monitor progress, explain and check the unknown material (check — because you can’t trust all of them. Some are lazy or unrealistic in their ambitions).

2. 1.    “English Grammar in Use” by Murphy — beginning of the year. Students do it during the lessons. There are 50 units that have to be repeated for EGE — they are in the EGE codification page

And others — there are tons of books on EGE preparation.

3. How do you track students’ progress? Any ratings? How often? Do parents have access to the progress ratings?
I keep the record of what we do; otherwise it is hard to remember whether we follow the initial plan. The ratings we have are done this way:
1. Ss do the test.
2.Together we check the answers, teacher explains the unclear points.
3. Teacher records the result in the Excel file. (I do it on the WB so that it is visible to others – it always creates zeal and desire to compete)

Every session we meet we do the tests. We should vary types of the tests (vocab, grammar, writing sessions).
Once a month we do a very important test – “Mock test”. It is copy of a real EGE test- with all sections (Listening, Use of English, Reading, and Writing), time the same as at EGE) and the writing part is assessed according to EGE experts’ criteria. The purpose: to see if your students progress and to get rid of stress before the real exam.
The results of this test are sent to the class teachers for them to analyze and forward the results to the parents. It is very useful for the parents – shows the progress and creates motivating moment.

You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

A long time ago men learnt how to make structures with walls and roofs to protect themselves from bad weather and wild animals. These ancient structures were quite primitive and very different from modern buildings. Still, they gave people shelter and comfort which they needed. Now there are many types of buildings in the world. They vary in size, shape and function.

There are several factors which influence the construction of a building. Firstly, builders need to consider which building materials are available or suit better. Secondly, they must know what a building is going to be used for. Moreover, they should think about land prices and climate in the area where they are going to construct a building. It is not a very good idea to build a house with big windows in the north or construct a lot of detached houses in the city centre where land is very expensive.

2) Study the advertisement.

You are considering going to the clinic and now you’d like to get more information. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask four direct questions to find out about the following:

1) location;
2) public transport;
3) types of doctors;
4) family discounts.

You have 20 seconds to ask each question.

3) You are going to give an interview. You have to answer five questions. Give full answers to the questions (2–3 sentences). Remember that you have 40 seconds to answer each question.

4) Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project “Preparing for exams”. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:

● explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
● mention the advantages (1–2) of the two types of preparing for exams;
● mention the disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of preparing for exams;
● express your opinion on the subject of the project – whether you prefer preparing for exams alone or in somebody’s company and why.

You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.

Many people believe that
preparation for exams is an essential part of schooling and there is a lot of
ways to do it. The aim of the project I am currently working on is to find out
more about it. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some data on
the most popular means of preparation for exams among students in Zetland.

According to the data,
the students have quite a wide range of opportunities to get ready for exams.
It is clear that the majority of the respondents prefer getting tutors as well
as using online platforms to improve their knowledge and prepare for exams (48%
and 32% respectively). However, test books are not so popular among students in
Zetland, only 12% of the respondents chooses them to practice.

It is worth mentioning
that school clubs are less popular than online platforms. To my mind, the
education via the internet is fast developing industry, it provides different
kinds and forms of schooling. All the more, it is important in order to prepare
for exams.

One problem that students
often face preparing for exams is that they are not ready psychologically for
their examination. It is hard for them to do their best in new conditions. One
solution to this problem is to create special centres where graduates can learn
more about the procedure and test themselves under psychologists’ supervision.

In conclusion, I firmly
believe well-organized preparation for exams allows students in Zetland feel
themselves more comfortably and do their best. I think high grade getting for
the final test is the best start in life. (269 words)

Many people believe that
schooling is an essential part of human’s life and there are lots of ways to
live it. The purpose of the project I am currently working on is to find out
more about it. As part of my project, I have found and analyzed some data on
the aim of schooling for teenagers in Zetland.

According to the data,
the adolescents have quite a wide range of interests at school. It is clear
that the vast majority of the respondents (45%) go to school in order to gain
knowledge. Moreover, a great number of them (25%) find new friends there and
spending time together becomes more and more important for teenagers. It is
worth mentioning that getting high grades for the final test is significant for
15% of the respondents.

Surprisingly, only 6% of
the teenagers think about their behaviour going to school. It is six times less
popular answer than getting knowledge. To my mind, this question is mostly
brought up by teachers and parents than by students.

One problem that can
arise with schooling is that teenagers usually skip lessons and their parents
do not know about it. One solution to this problem is to create special
software than can sent messages to parents if their child comes to school or
not.

In conclusion, I firmly
believe that despite some problems associated with schooling, it is a great
period of life for teenagers in Zetland. I think the adolescents could keep
good memories about their school time. (253 words)

Здравствуйте, уважаемые читатели!

В этой статье предлагаю еще раз внимательно ознакомиться с типами заданий устной части ЕГЭ 2022 по английскому языку, так как в этом году формат заданий устной части существенно изменился. Экзамен по устной части проходит в отдельно отведенный для этого день, как правило, после письменной части.

Инструкция по выполнению заданий
Устная часть КИМ ЕГЭ по английскому языку включает в себя 4 задания.
Задание 1 – чтение вслух небольшого текста научно-популярного характера. Время на подготовку – 1,5 минуты. Максимальное количество баллов — 1.

В задании 2 предлагается ознакомиться с рекламным объявлением и задать четыре вопроса на основе ключевых слов. Время на подготовку – 1,5 минуты. Максимальное количество баллов — 4.
В задании 3 предлагается дать интервью на актуальную тему, развёрнуто ответив на пять вопросов. Максимальное количество баллов — 5.
В задании 4 предлагается проблемная тема для проектной работы и 2 фотографии, выбор которых в качестве иллюстраций надо обосновать, и нужно выразить своё мнение по проблеме проектной работы. Время на подготовку — 2,5 минуты. Максимальное количество баллов — 10.

Общее максимальное количество баллов по устной части — 20 баллов.

Общее время ответа одного экзаменуемого (включая время на подготовку) – 17 минут.
Каждое последующее задание выдаётся после окончания выполнения предыдущего задания. Всё время ответа ведётся аудио- и видеозапись.

К моему большому сожалению (но, думаю, не только я одна удручена таким состоянием дел!) наши уважаемые сотрудники ФИПИ не позаботились о том, чтобы разместить в открытый доступ как можно больше тренировочных вариантов для учащихся и учителей, которые готовят студентов к сдаче такого важного в их жизни испытания. Но зато очень быстро было издано пособие под редакцией М.В. Вербицкой (с явно коммерческими целями обогащения за счет бедных учеников и учителей! Ай-ай-ай, как не стыдно!!! 😡) «ЕГЭ Английский язык Типовые экзаменационные варианты Новая модель КИМ ЕГЭ 20 вариантов». Ну, что ж, будем разбирать сегодня один из вариантов этого пособия.

Сразу хочу обратить ваше внимание, что в данной статье будут представлены примерные образцы выполнения заданий 1 — 4 устной части ЕГЭ 2022, поэтому Вы можете их усовершенствовать (упростить или усилить) согласно своим предпочтениям.

Предупреждение! Во время подготовки к сдаче экзамена по устной части у учащихся не будет возможности делать какие-либо записи своих ответов на черновик! Тестируется навык спонтанной речи.

Canada’s original inhabitants are Indians. The very name Canada comes from a word meaning “village” in one of the local languages of Indian tribes. These tribes lived on the territory of modern Canada before the first Europeans arrived in the 11^th century. They soon left, but more Europeans came in the 16^th century and were made welcome because they brought manufactured goods and traded them for furs and other native products. However, the Europeans settled down and gradually displaced Indians over the next 250 years. European settlers came in a series of waves.
