The Key English Test is a pre-intermediate level examination and corresponds to level 2 of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The exam is made up of three papers: Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening. There are three passing grades: ‘Pass with Distinction’, ‘Pass with Merit’, ‘Pass’ and one failing grade: ‘Level A1’. Students can take either a computer-based or a paper-based exam. It’s typically taken by students aged between 11 and 14 and can be achieved after around 180 – 200 hours of study. Кембриджский экзамен КЕТ (Key English Test)  – это первое испытание в серии экзаменов Кембриджского университета. Всего этих экзаменов 5: KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE. Соответственно, экзамен КЕТ – это лишь первая ступень среди международных экзаменов для взрослых по английскому языку. Кембриджский экзамен КЕТ – это самое простое тестирование, проходят его в том случае, когда владение языком на уровне Pre-Intermediate.

Немного истории

Это испытание было разработано методическим составом Кембриджского университета в 1991 – 1994 годах, в 2004 году были внесены существенные изменения. В 2009 году Кембриджский экзамен КЕТ был дополнен испытанием для школьников — KET for schools. В экзамен для школьников добавлены темы соответствующие их увлечениям и познаниям.

В формат экзамена КЕТ 2016 года новшества не введены.

Зачем сдавать Key English Test?

После успешной сдачи кандидаты получают бессрочный сертификат, который ценится во многих компаниях, связанных с туризмом, гостиничным бизнесом, зарубежной торговлей, управленческой деятельностью. Данный сертификат открывает двери в некоторые средние специальные учебные заведения.

После проверки теста Вы узнаете свои слабые стороны конкретно по каждой части экзамена, что позволит устранить пробелы в знании языка. Как правило, Кембриджский экзамен КЕТ – это лишь промежуточное испытание. После получения сертификата большинство кандидатов не останавливаются на достигнутом, сдают экзамены более высокого уровня знания английского языка.

Задания КЕТ по английскому языку

Кембриджский экзамен КЕТ производит проверку познаний в английском языке по четырем основным направлениям: чтение, письмо, аудирование, разговорная речь. При этом чтение и письмо объединены в один раздел экзамена. Во всех частях проверяются знания правил грамматики и лексический запас. Тестирование включает в себя 3 этапа:

Продолжительность – 70 минут. Оценка за этот раздел составляет половину от общей оценки.

В данном разделе кандидаты должны справиться с девятью заданиями, 5 по чтению, 4 по письму.

Сдающим предлагаются тексты из английских книг, газет, журналов, которые нужно понять и выполнить задания по данным отрывкам. В упражнениях нужно заполнить пропуски слов или фраз, есть задание на соотнесение высказывания с нужным ответом.

В разделе «Письмо» нужно составить небольшой текст, в котором будет оцениваться Ваш словарный запас, владение грамматикой английского языка. Также есть задания, в которых нужно написать анкету, заполнить пропуски в тексте.

Продолжительность – 25 — 30 минут. Оценка за этот раздел составляет четверть от общей оценки.

В этом разделе сдающие прослушивают в записи монологи, диалоги, объявления. Все тексты произносятся достаточно четко в достаточно медленном темпе. После прослушивания нужно ответить на задания 5-ти тестов.

Продолжительность составляет 8 – 10 минут. Оценка составляет ¼ от общей оценки за экзамен.

При проведении этого испытания кандидаты делятся на пары, если последний кандидат остался без пары, он присоединяется к последней паре. Далее проводится беседа между двумя (или тремя) кандидатами и ответы на вопросы двух экзаменаторов.

Результаты Кембриджского экзамена КЕТ

Тесты отправляются на проверку преподавателям Кембриджского университета. Примерно через 2 месяца после сдачи кандидаты получают отчет о сдаче экзамена, а через 10 месяцев в случае успешной сдачи претенденты получают бессрочный сертификат, который подтверждает базовый уровень владения языком.

A2 Key Exam Practice (KET) for the Cambridge English Key English Test (KET). It is targeted at a pre-intermediate level (A2 Level of English) on the CEFR scale.

What can students do at a A2 English Level? Reaching this level means that a person can use English to communicate in simple situations.

What can candidates do at an A2 English Level?

  • CAN understand straightforward information within a known area.
  • CAN complete forms and write short, simple letters or postcards related to personal information.
  • CAN understand simple questions and instructions.
  • CAN express simple opinions or requirements in a familiar context.

Our placement test for schools is a free placement test designed for students between the ages of 13 and 16 years old. It will take about 25 minutes to complete and it will suggest which Cambridge English course to follow.

Part 1 — Read six short real-world texts for the main message.

Part 2 — Read seven questions and three short texts on the same topic, then match the questions to the texts.

Part 3 — Read one long text for detailed understanding and main ideas.

Part 4 — Read a factual text and choose the correct vocabulary items to complete the gaps.

Part 5 — Complete gaps in an email (and sometimes the reply too) using one word.

Part 6 — Write a short email or note of 25 words or more.

Part 7 — Write a short story of 35 words or more based on three picture prompts.

In addition, we add listening and speaking exercises in order to practise for this part of the A2 Key test (KET).
