Travel is an essential part of modern life. Thus, many people think that moving around expands one’s horizons. But others disagree with this point of view.

I strongly believe that travelling around the world develops the mind. Firstly, when people visit another country, they learn a lot about its culture and traditions. And this enriches their view of the world. Secondly, travelling gives an opportunity to acquire a foreign language through communicating with the locals. Thirdly, having set a foot into a new place, one has to be able to find his way and not to get lost. Such orientation exercise greatly improves one’s intellect.

Yet, some claim that travel is a waste of time and money. They are convinced that you don’t have to go overseas to become smarter. All sorts of information can be found in books nowadays. Moreover, those people say that going abroad is too expensive. It’s much wiser to invest your money in some training.

However, I don’t agree with these opinions. Books can never replace travelling. As the saying goes, “Better to see once than hear a hundred times”. As for the high cost, there is a wide variety of agencies today which offer tours for all kinds of budget.

In conclusion, I consider travelling a powerful way to broaden the outlook for those who are eager to learn.

Everyone needs at least one holiday a year, so when you begin spending sleepless nights thinking about the sun and the sea, when you think longingly of the green countryside and forget the mosquitoes and the boredom, there’re no doubt about it – you’re ready for a holiday. You need to get away from all your usual routines and get some fresh air and a change of perspective. Travel is necessary for us all. It keeps us from growing stale and old, it develops our imagination, it gives us that movement and change which are necessary to our life. One of the aims of travel is to go in search of beauty. The beauty spots of the world are magnets, which attract travelers year after year. Yet even more valuable for the traveler is the knowledge, which he gets by going among people of different characters and different ways of life. Then there is for the traveler the great joy of coming home again. When his curiosity for new scenes is satisfied, he turns his thought toward home where all the things are the most familiar and he loves them. Therefore, the traveler, besides the delight of travel, has the warmest feeling of returning home.

Traveling nowadays has become an important part of modern life. Millions of people all over the world travel about their own countries and to foreign lands as well. People travel to visit natural destinations such as seas, lakes, rivers, mountain ranges, deserts and so on. It’s always interesting to discover new things and other ways of life, to meet different people, taste different food, examine various architectural styles, visit museums and picture galleries. It’s common knowledge that travelling is a key to understanding other cultures and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the world we live in.

Tourism is travelling for pleasure or enjoying yourself away from the place you live in. Nowadays tourism is growing very fast, mostly because people’s lifestyles have changed. They don’t want to stay at home anymore. To my mind, it’s because travelling has become cheaper. What was once the «grand tour», reserved for only the very rich, is now within everybody’s grasp. Now nearly everyone can afford traveling around the world. Not only are budget airlines offering cheap fares, but the higher valued airlines as well. In addition, it’s easy, faster and you get more freedom while travelling. The main reason for this is the technical superiority. For example, you easily book a ticket through the Internet. You don’t face long queues wasting your time. Therefore, it simplifies our life. Another change is money. Now we use handy little plastic cards: you can do purchases around the world without any difficulties or problems with local currency. Not long ago this was unthinkable but today it’s reality. So with all of today’s technological advances, it has become easier than ever to travel abroad.

Although tourism has many benefits, such as bringing extra money into the local economy, there are also negative effect. Tourism can do all sorts of damage to the environment, the culture and the people of a country, especially in places which aren’t prepared for large numbers of holidaymakers. It’s important to know how to travel wise. Firstly, you should find out as much about your holiday destination as you can. A guidebook is great place to start. As well as learning about the local places of interest, you can read about the way you will be expected to behave and dress. This can save you from making embarrassing mistakes. The next step is to think about how you spend your money when you are on holiday. Try to put it into the local people’s hands. Even in places where you are expected to haggle or bargain, you should always pay a fair price for things. Then, try to have as little effect on the local environment as possible. Try to leave place exactly as you found it. It’s necessary to follow this simply rules in order to save the culture and environment of the places you visit and to be welcome wherever we go.
Nowadays people can travel in different ways. They can choose a package tour, when everything is planned without your participation, and a self-tour, when you play it off the cuff.

Traveling yourself gives you the freedom to create you own schedule, do as you please. However, when a trip reveals unexpected joys, adventures and challenges, oftentimes these things are best shared with another person, who can relate to your situation and provide moral support. To ensure that a travel partner is one who can value to your journey, choose a travel companion who has similar travel preferences and personality characteristics. It’s importation to find a common interest. I would request my traveling partner to have a lot of energy and be open to seeing and doing a variety of different things. Outgoing without being overbearing or annoying is desirable. Moreover, someone who is easygoing. Life changes, plans change. However, the best traveling partner is someone, who doesn’t get ruffled in tough time and can see the light through a dark moment and laugh! Also, and this way be the biggest thing, they have to be pretty tight with their money. In order to have a pleasant time abroad you need to choose the right partner, who can share your interests and can be a good company.

One of the way to travel independent without intrusive travel agents is to go camping. It’s the ideal way of spending a holiday for many people nowadays. You see, camping has so much to offer. You enjoy absolute freedom. You have none of the headaches of advance hotel booking or driving around a city at midnight looking for a room. Modern camping sites are well equipped with hot and cold running water and all necessary facilities. But above all, you enjoy tremendous mobility. Moreover, you are active all the time and you are always close to nature. Camping provides you with a real change from everyday living. And that’s the essence of true recreation and real enjoyment.
What about a package tour, of course it has many advantages. By choosing a holiday package, you actually get rid of all activities, starting from booking flight tickets, checking out accommodation availability at hotels and booking rooms. Everything will be done on your behalf by the tour operator and would simply be paying the charge. Another big advantage of tour packages is complete tour. At the same time package holidays have a number of disadvantages. To start with, conducted tours to places of interest are carefully censored. The tourist is allowed to see only what the organizers want him to see and no more. A strict schedule makes it impossible for the tourist to wander off on his own. The sad thing about this situation is that it leads to the persistence of national stereotypes. We don’t see the people of other nations as they really are, but as we have been brought up to believe they are.
People choose different places to visit. Some are looking for sandy beaches, sparkling waters and cloudless skies. Others rest in spacious and elegant rooms, dine on delicious cuisine or unwind in a relaxing sauna, and the luxurious hotels cater for every need. All adventurous nature lovers who long to escape to a land of endless rivers, bottomless lakes, towering mountains and colossal cliffs choose mostly campsites.

Today, almost everyone can discover the benefits of traveling. Through travel, we can discover other ways of life, plunge into an unusual atmosphere, practice foreign languages, and exchange experiences. My Trip to the Polish Tricity

This summer I flew to Gdansk, to the Baltic Sea with my parents and my older sister. It was my first flight on an airplane, and I think I will remember it for the rest of my life, because I was looking forward to it! Plus, this was my first trip abroad.

We had a four day tour during which we visited Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia. First we flew to Gdansk, arrived at the hotel and rested after the flight. Then we went for a walk to the old town. The Vistula River flows through the city. In the old part of the city, old houses with charming architecture stand on one side of the river, and new houses are being completed on the other side. I really liked that they are built in a similar style, but in a modern way. We tried a few traditional dishes, but I didn’t really like them.

The next day we went on the river and then by sea by boat to Sopot, a neighboring resort town full of hotels, spas, and restaurants. In Sopot, we walked along small cozy streets with old beautiful houses. I really liked the neat balconies on many of them. We sunbathed a bit on the beach and ate some waffles with whipped cream. It was very tasty.

On the third day of our tour, we went to Gdynia. Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia are three bordering cities. They are called Tricity because they practically merge together. Gdynia is the youngest of these cities. We walked along the embankment and entered the military ship-museum, as well as the city museum. I was fascinated by how friendly people live here and how leisurely they enjoy life.

I am very glad that we got out on such a journey. I saw the Baltic Sea, admired the architecture of European cities, tried new dishes, although I didn’t really like them. I would like to visit other countries to get the same vivid impressions.

Летом текущего года я с родителями и старшей сестрой летали в Гданьск, к Балтийскому морю. Это был мой первый полет на самолете, и я думаю, что запомню его на всю жизнь, ведь я с таким нетерпением его ждала! К тому же, это было мое первое путешествие за границу.

У нас был четырехдневный тур, во время которого мы посетили Гданьск, Сопот, и Гдыню. Сначала мы прилетели в Гданьск, приехали в отель и отдохнули после перелета. Потом мы отправились на прогулку по старому городу. Через город протекает река Висла. В старой части города по одну сторону реки стоят старые дома с очаровательной архитектурой, а по другую сторону завершается строительство новых домов. Мне очень понравилось, что они строятся в похожем стиле, но обыграны современно. Мы попробовали несколько традиционных блюд, но мне они не очень понравились.

На следующий день мы отправились на корабле по реке, а затем по морю в Сопот — это соседний курортный город, в котором множество гостиниц, спа, и ресторанов. В Сопоте мы гуляли по маленьким уютным улочкам со старыми красивыми домами. Мне очень понравились аккуратные балкончики на многих домах. Мы немного позагорали на пляже и объелись вафлями со взбитыми сливками. Это было очень вкусно.

Traveling is always an exciting adventure that brings a lot of vivid emotions and new impressions. Every person has their own idea of ​​the perfect travel, and I want to share my thoughts on this.

I travel often with my family. We rested by the sea many times, and also visited various European cities and saw the sights. I like the beach holidays and excursions to museums and memorable places equally. Therefore, my dream trip is a trip to a warm country by the ocean, where there is something to see.

I dream one day to fly to Mexico. This country is famous not only for its beaches, but also for its very diverse landscape. There are highlands, deserts and rainforests. There are various ruins of ancient buildings throughout the country. I would like to spend at least a month in this country to spend a little time in different areas and enjoy each of them.

I also really like Mexican food and would love to taste how the locals prepare it. They say the Mexicans are very friendly and cheerful. I want to ensure this personally, because I am sociable and love to make new acquaintances.

I would like to visit Mexico in early November, when the Day of the Dead is celebrated there. As you probably know, Mexicans treat death as a celebration and hold a fantastic festival in its honor every year. I am very interested in seeing this with my own eyes.

I hope that one day my dream will come true and I will have an unforgettable time in Mexico.

Travelling to new and interesting places has always attracted people. It provides opportunities for adventure, fun and education. It benefits the society in a number of ways.

First of all, travelling enables people to take a break. People work hard most of the time and they need the time to relax and get away from their offices and homes to discover new places and cultures. Travelling helps people overcome burnout, depression and start working more efficiently than before.

Secondly, travel broadens the mind.  There is a quote by Saint Augustine: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page”. Travelling is a wonderful opportunity to observe and understand other cultures, experience new habits, national cuisine, festivities. And therefore, it helps prevent narrow-mindedness, ignorance, intolerance and racial prejudice.

Another benefit is that people improve their social skills while travelling because they meet a lot of people and make new friends. In other words, travelling increases confidence. Moreover, it`s a good way to practice foreign languages.

To sum it up, travelling has a lot of advantages. It is the best way to forget about your stressful work and daily routines and refresh your motivation. Life without travelling would be boring and monotonous.

You need to get away from all your usual routines and get some fresh air and a change of perspective. Travel is necessary for us all. It keeps us from growing stale and old, it develops our imagination, it gives us that movement and change which are necessary to our life. One of the aims of travel is to go in search of beauty. The beauty spots of the world are magnets, which attract travelers year after year. Yet even

more valuable for the traveler is the knowledge, which he gets by going among people of different characters and different ways of life. Then there is for the traveler the great joy of coming home again. When his curiosity for new scenes is satisfied, he turns his thought toward home where all the things are the most familiar and he loves them. Therefore, the traveler, besides the delight of travel, has the warmest feeling of returning home.

Traveling nowadays has become an important part of modern life. Millions of people all over the world travel about their own countries and to foreign lands as well. People travel to visit natural destinations such as seas, lakes, rivers, mountain ranges, deserts and so on. It’s always interesting to discover new things and other ways of life, to meet different people, taste different food, examine various architectural styles, visit museums and picture galleries. It’s common knowledge that travelling is a key to understanding other cultures and a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the world we live in.

Tourism is travelling for pleasure or enjoying yourself away from the place you live in. Nowadays tourism is growing very fast, mostly because people’s lifestyles have changed. They don’t want to stay at home anymore. To my mind, it’s because travelling has become cheaper. What was once the “grand tour”, reserved for only the very rich, is now within everybody’s grasp. Now nearly everyone can afford traveling around the world. Not only are budget airlines offering cheap fares, but the higher valued airlines as well. In addition, it’s easy, faster and you get more freedom while travelling. The main reason for this is the technical superiority. For example, you easily book a ticket through the Internet. You don’t face long queues wasting your time. Therefore, it simplifies our life. Another change is money. Now we use handy little plastic cards: you can do purchases around the world without any difficulties or problems with local currency. Not long ago this was unthinkable but today it’s reality. So with all of today’s technological advances, it has become easier than ever to travel abroad.

Although tourism has many benefits, such as bringing extra money into the local economy, there are also negative effect. Tourism can do all sorts of damage to the environment, the culture and the people of a country, especially in places which aren’t prepared for large numbers of holidaymakers. It’s important to know how to travel wise. Firstly, you should find out as much about your holiday destination as you can. A guidebook is great place to start. As well as learning about the local places of interest, you can read about the way you will be expected to behave and dress. This can save you from making embarrassing mistakes. The next step is to think about how you spend your money when you are on holiday. Try to put it into the local people’s hands. Even in places where you are expected to haggle or bargain, you should always pay a fair price for things. Then, try to have as little effect on the local environment as possible. Try to leave place exactly as you found it. It’s necessary to follow this simply rules in order to save the culture and environment of the places you visit and to be welcome wherever we go.

Traveling yourself gives you the freedom to create you own schedule, do as you please. However, when a trip reveals unexpected joys, adventures and challenges, oftentimes these things are best shared with another person, who can relate to your situation and provide moral support. To ensure that a travel partner is one who can value to your journey, choose a travel companion who has similar travel preferences and personality characteristics. It’s importation to find a common interest. I would request my traveling partner to have a lot of energy and be open to seeing and doing a variety of different things. Outgoing without being overbearing or annoying is desirable. Moreover, someone who is easygoing. Life changes, plans change. However, the best traveling partner is someone, who doesn’t get ruffled in tough time and can see the light through a dark moment and laugh! In order to have a pleasant time abroad you need to choose the right partner, who can share your interests and can be a good company.

One of the way to travel independent without intrusive travel agents is to go camping. It’s the ideal way of spending a holiday for many people nowadays. You see, camping has so much to offer. You enjoy absolute freedom. You have none of the headaches of advance hotel booking or driving around a city at midnight looking for a room. Modern camping sites are well equipped with hot and cold running water and all necessary facilities. But above all, you enjoy tremendous mobility. Moreover, you are active all the time and you are always close to nature. Camping provides you with a real change from everyday living. And that’s the essence of true recreation and real enjoyment.
What about a package tour, of course it has many advantages. By choosing a holiday package, you actually get rid of all activities, starting from booking flight tickets, checking out accommodation availability at hotels and booking rooms. Everything will be done on your behalf by the tour operator and would simply be paying the charge. Another big advantage of tour packages is complete tour. At the same time package holidays have a number of disadvantages. To start with, conducted tours to places of interest are carefully censored. The tourist is allowed to see only what the organizers want him to see and no more. A strict schedule makes it impossible for the tourist to wander off on his own. The sad thing about this situation is that it leads to the persistence of national stereotypes. We don’t see the people of other nations as they really are, but as we have been brought up to believe they are.
People choose different places to visit. Some are looking for sandy beaches, sparkling waters and cloudless skies. Others rest in spacious and elegant rooms, dine on delicious cuisine or unwind in a relaxing sauna, and the luxurious hotels cater for every need. All adventurous nature lovers who long to escape to a land of endless rivers, bottomless lakes, towering mountains and colossal cliffs choose mostly campsites.

My trip

Travelling is the most exciting thing in the world. First of all, it lets us discover the world and to see different countries, experience their cultures and traditions. Moreover, we enrich our knowledge about life in general and particularly about ourselves. Travelling also gives us an opportunity to meet new interesting people, learn new languages and develop our skills. That’s why I’m trying to travel as much as possible.

The best trip I’ve ever had in my life was to France. Although it happened two years ago, but I still recall this wonderful time with a great pleasure. I went there with two of my friends and it was really the right decision, because we travelled by coach and the journey took a long time. We were playing cards on the way, singing songs and joking all the time. As we arrived we checked in a hotel not far from the center. We were exhausted but in a good mood.

The first day in Paris was fantastic. It was a bus tour around the city called Open Tour. We got on a bus at the nearest stop. It was amazing that it stopped in front of all sights, so we could get off and walk around the most famous places. We took thousands of photos of Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Arch of Triumph and other monuments. We were impressed by the number of tourists and the beauty of the places we visited. We spent 4 other days in Paris, but this first time our impressions were thrilling.

The next days we visited plenty of museums and had some time for small shopping to buy souvenirs. Last evening we went on a small excursion by boat. It was amazing to be on board and to see all the sights again as if they were saying goodbye to us.

Thus, it was fantastic time and I hope to come back to Paris one day to get the same marvelous emotions there.

Путешествия — это самая захватывающая вещь в мире. Прежде всего, они позволяют нам познавать мир, а также увидеть различные страны, исследовать их культуру и традиции. Более того, мы обогащаем знания о жизни в целом, а также о нас самих в частности. Путешествия также дают нам возможность познакомиться с новыми интересными людьми, учить новые языки и развивать наши способности. Поэтому я стараюсь путешествовать как можно чаще.

Лучшее путешествие в моей жизни было во Францию. И хотя это было два года назад, я все еще вспоминаю это чудесное время с огромным удовольствием. Я ездила с двумя друзьями и это было действительно правильное решение, так как мы путешествовали на автобусе и поездка заняла много времени. В пути мы играли в карты, пели песни и все время шутили. По приезду мы зарегистрировались в отеле неподалеку от центра. Мы были изнурены, но в хорошем расположении духа.

Первый день в Париже был отличный — автобусный тур под название Open Tour. Мы сели в автобус на ближайшей остановке. Было чудесно, что автобус останавливался у всех достопримечательностей, поэтому мы могли выйти и прогуляться по самым известным местам. Мы сделали тысячи фотографий Эйфелевой башни, Лувра, Триумфальной арки и других памятников. Мы были впечатлены количеством туристов и красотой мест, которые мы посетили. Мы провели еще 4 дня в Париже, но в этот первый день, наши впечатления были просто захватывающими.

В следующие дни мы посетили множество музеев, и у нас было немного времени на походы по магазинам, для покупки сувениров. В последний вечер мы отправились на небольшую экскурсию на корабле. Находится на борту, и увидеть все достопримечательности снова было так чудесно, Они словно бы прощались с нами.

Итак, мы отлично провели время, и я надеюсь однажды снова вернуться в Париж, чтобы испытать те же восхитительные эмоции.

The best way to break the monotony of our life and learn a lot about different places and cultures in the world is travelling. I think that our modern life is impossible without travelling. People get tired of their daily routine, they need to change the surroundings. So they go to a travel agency, buy tickets to some nice place, pack their suitcases and set off on a journey.

Travelling has a great educational value because it is a chance to meet new people, visit museums and ancient sights, discover different ways of life, taste national cuisines and practice foreign languages. It makes us more appreciative of other cultures. The best way to study geography is to go to distant countries and cities.

We can travel by different means of transport: by plane, by ship, by train, by car and even on foot. It depends on our plans and preferences. Plane is the fastest but the most expensive means of transport. Travelling in a modern train can be very comfortable and enjoyable. We can admire picturesque landscapes from the window and communicate with our companions.

When we travel by car we don’t have to buy any tickets or book a hotel, we can stop wherever we want and stay there as long as we like. Travelling on foot (or hiking) is quite popular among young people. It’s really exciting to walk in the countryside enjoying the beauty of hills and valleys, lakes and forests.

My parents spend their holidays travelling too. I was only 4 years old when they first took me to Turkey. That was an unforgettable holiday by the sea. We swam and sunbathed, went sailing and fishing. And we took plenty of beautiful pictures there.

Travelling is great! It can give you a great deal of pleasant emotions and memories. It’s the time for relaxation and thinking. People often return home with a fresh outlook on life and a fantastic zeal to do something good. And they usually say: “East or West – home is best.”
