My favorite sportsman is Michael Schumacher.

During his distinguished career, he broke many records in Formula One racing.

He was twice named the sportsman of the year and is the second richest sportsman of all time and nations, second only to basketball player Michael Jordan.

But important is not his wealth and not even records, Schumacher has become a symbol of the desire for a goal, a symbol of speed. Focused on his business, he reached the heights of skill. It’s inspiring.

Looking at Michael, I want to become the best in my business. Schumacher is a good example for teenagers, he shows what can be achieved if you try, work and improve yourself.

Alexander Karelin is my sports idol.

He was born Siberia, like me, at age 13 began to engage in wrestling. This is a very large and strong man, like Hercules from ancient myths. He is like a rock hanging over the adversaries.

During his career, he won three Olympic gold medals, won in nine world championships.

He remained undefeated for more than thirteen years.

887 victories and only two defeats, for which he took revenge. Such a number of victories is not only evidence of tremendous physical strength, but also the result of intellectual work, the correct evaluation of the enemy, the ability to take advantage of the current situation.

1. My favorite sportsman
   Actually, I’m not fond of sport, but sometimes I watch hockey games with my parents. My favorite team is SKA from Saint-Petersburg, Russia and in my opinion, the best player of the team is Iliya Kovalchuk.
   Ilya started his hockey career when he was 16 years old in Tver. At first time he was a player of the famous Moscow team ‘Spartak’. He is a fantastic hockeyist and the player is loved by Russians so much. Probably, it is because he is the first Russian player invited in NHL in 2001. Ilya played in such Russian hockey teams as “Spartak”, “Ak bars” and “SKA”, but he also signed some contracts with teams of USA and played in “Atlanta” and “New Jersey”. Ilya is also known as a finalist of the Stanley Cup.
   Besides, his team won a bronze medal at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and Ilya has been a member of Russian Olympic team three times at least. Ilya has been honored with the Master of Sports title. In 2015 he gained silver medals of the World Championship.
   Indeed, a lot of women like this guy because he is a very handsome and charismatic man. He is really tall (191 cm) and big (100 kg) like a savage Russian bear. His position in the team is forward. Competitors are afraid of him, but he is so respected by his partners and hockey fans.
   By the way, Ilya Kovalchuk participates in different charity events and social occasions with other celebrities. He is favorable guest on every party. Ilya is known as a very good-natured and sociable sportsman. That’s why SKA twitter gets more than 100 000 followers.
   As for me, I guess, that such people as mr. Kovalchuk can make every game more spectacular and interesting. I like him for his outstanding performance and achievements. He is not only a clever, nice and charming man but a great professional in the hockey sphere, that’s why he is my favorite sportsman.

   Между прочим, Илья Ковальчук принимает участие в различных благотворительных мероприятиях и посещает светские рауты. Он – желанный гость на любой вечеринке. Илью считают очень добродушным и общительным спортсменом, поэтому СКА в своем твиттере имеет более чем 100 000 подписчиков.
   Что касается меня, то я думаю, что господин Ковальчук может сделать любую игру более зрелищной и интересной. Он нравится мне своими выдающимися выступлениями и достижениями. Он не только умный, милый и очаровательный мужчина, но и большой профессионал своего дела, поэтому он мой любимый спортсмен.

   I am really fond of sport. I especially like tennis, swimming, skiing, basketball, and figure-skating. However, my favourite type of sport is football. I like both playing and watching it. Football is played in many countries, so I support foreign teams as well as the domestic ones. I know many great players of football. Among them, Maradona, Zidan, Arshavin, Totti, Maldini, Beckham, Cnatona, Messi, Vieri, but most of all I like Ronaldo. I like the way he plays and behaves. He seems to be not only talented but also a strong-willed guy. His full name is Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. I know people who don’t like this Portuguese-born footballer but I adore him. He is considered to be the most expensive footballer of all times. To transfer from “Manchester United” team to Spanish “Real” he was paid more than 83 million pounds. Ronaldo was born on February the 5th, 1985 in Madeira neighborhood. He was the youngest child in a family and his father named him after the American President Ronald Reagan. His career in football started rather early. At the age of eight he already played for the amateur team “Andorinha”. When he turned ten, he signed his first contract with the local club “Nacional”. Today, Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and he plays as a forward for the Spanish club “Real Madrid”. He is known to be mentally sharp, predicting certain plays, and having very good reactions. He was also the first player to win all main football awards. Apart from being a great player, Ronaldo often donates money and personal possessions to charity funds and people who are in need.

   All people all over the world like sport. Nowadays it is very popular to keep a healthy life style. I think that it is a quite good tendency.
   Все люди во всем мире любят спорт. В наше время очень популярно вести здоровый образ жизни. Я думаю, что это хорошая тенденция.
   I like sport. It plays an important role in my life. Due to the sport I could treat the lateral curvature. Though I am a dancer, my favourite kind of sport is skiing. I like all types of skiing and always watch ski competitions though I am not very good at skiing.
   Я люблю спорт. Он играет важную роль в моей жизни. Благодаря спорту я смогла вылечить сколиоз. Несмотря на то, что я занимаюсь танцами, моим любимым видом спорта является лыжный спорт. Мне нравятся все виды лыжного спорта, и я всегда смотрю лыжные соревнования, хотя сама я не очень хорошо катаюсь на лыжах.
   Most of all I like ski jumping, biathlon and downhill. Ski jumping is a type of skiing when a sportsman jumps from a special jumping ramp. There is the particular sequence of the jump performance. The first stage is in-run, then a sportsman jumps, then he or she “flies” and the final stage is landing. I really admire these sportsmen, they are so brave.
   Больше всего мне нравятся прыжки на лыжах с трамплина, биатлон и скоростной спуск (вид горнолыжного спорта). Прыжки на лыжах с трамплина – это вид лыжного спорта, когда спортсмен прыгает со специального склона. Существует определенная последовательность выполнения прыжка. Первый этап – разгон, затем спортсмен прыгает, затем «летит», а последний этап – приземление. Я действительно восхищаюсь этими спортсменами, они очень смелые.
   Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. It includes a ski race and shooting rounds. If a sportsman has the bad shooting performance, extra distance is added to his total distance which takes some period of time. The aim of the competition is to have the shortest total time.
   Биатлон сочетает в себе лыжные гонки и стрельбу из винтовки. Соревнование включает в себя лыжную гонку и несколько раундов стрельбы.    Downhill is a kind of alpine skiing. It is a quite dangerous kind of alpine skiing because the average speed is 130 km/h.

   In my opinion, skiing is a very interesting kind of sport. Actually, I like many winter activities but skiing is the most favourite one.

7. Sports in our lives

   Why do we do sports?  Sports have a lot of benefits, not only physically but emotionally and mentally as well.  Sports offer something for everyone.  Whether you’re a beginner, already doing sports activities, or at an advanced level of sports fitness, you can still get some benefits of sports no matter what level you are in.  The beauty of sports is that it accommodates all levels of fitness.  From week to week you’ll notice a difference in your body and your overall health.

   My favourite sport

   My favourite sport is running. There are just times when you feel like you just want to get up and run!  I for instance, would just grab my I-pod and run out when I need to belt out my frustrations and woes. It works every time! Running is good holistically; except for those who are restrained to do it due to health reasons. Physically, it keeps you fit because it requires a great deal of energy burning up calories. It also decreases the chances of getting a stroke or a heart attack since it lowers the blood pressure and maintains the elasticity of your arteries. It slows down the aging process because of the toxins you sweat out and the strength- training you give to your muscles and bones.  Psychologically, running releases the “happy hormones” or endorphins responsible for that natural high.

   Darts

   I also love darts. Some people may argue that darts is not even a sport bacause you don’t have to be fit to be able to play darts.  You can be overweight and still play darts.  But sport is anything but being fit and trim.  Sport is also a mind game.  Discipline, self-control and an analytic mind are some of the qualities often seen in a sportsman.  You have to have focus when playing darts.  You must develop an eagle eye and a steady arm to play this sport exceptionally.  It takes many hours of practice to develop skills that are needed to play darts professional.

   Conclusion

   In conclusion I‘d like to say that whatever sport you choose to do, you‘ll soon find that you have more self esteem, develop leadership skills as well as teamwork which are essential qualities needed in your work and family. Take up a sport today!

My Favourite Sportsman (Ronaldo)

I am really fond of sport. I like tennis, swimming, figure skating, football, valley-ball. However, my favorite sport is soccer. I like football both in our country and in foreign countries. I think that this game is very strict and tough. There are many popular football-players, for example: Paolo Maldini, Pirlo — they are playing in Milan; Konovaro is playing in Parma; Nesto is playing in Lazio; Baggio is playing in Breshia; Totti, Toldo, Ronaldo, Vieri are playing in Inter.

My favorite football-player is Ronaldo (Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima). Many people don’t like him, but I adore. He was born in Rio (Brazil). He hadn’t got any money, but he wanted to play football. When he was sixteen he started playing in «Cruzeiro», then he went to the World Cup in USA. Then he played in «Barcelona», then he went to Milan and played in «Inter».Later he signed one of the biggest contract with «Real» Madrid and finished his career in «Corinthians» in February 2011.

He is widely considered by experts and fans as one of the greatest football players of all time. He won his first Ballon d’Or as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997 (aged only 21) and again won the award in 2002 (26 years old). Additionally, he is one of only three men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times, along with French footballer Zinedine Zidane and Argentine striker Lionel Messi. He was the best football-player in Europe. Now he has a very beautiful wife and son.

My favourite sportsman is Lionel Messi, who is one of the best footballers of nowadays and one of the best players of all times! He was the best player in the world in the years 2009-2012.

Lionel Messi was born in June 1987 in the city of Rosario, in Argentina. He has two brothers and a sister. Two of his cousins are also footballers. His father’s family comes from Italy, but the ancestors moved to Argentina in 1883.

Messi stared playing football when he was 5 years old. His father, a factory worker, was his first coach. Messi’s grandmother wanted him to become a footballer and she herself brought Lionel to sport club trainings. Later on Lionel often devoted his first goals to her.

When the boy was 11 his family moved to Barselona. At 13 Lionel became a member of «Barselona» club team to which he belongs up to now.

Lionel Messi is married and has two sons.

Together with his team he won a lot of Europian and World Championships.

As the best player he was awarded 5 times the prize «The Gold Ball» and one prize «The Diamond Ball». The newspapers wrote: » … His legs are like Maradona’s, his speed is like Crowford’s and he passes like Ronaldinio»
