I`d like to tell you about my trip on foot to the lake. Last weekend my friends and I went to the forest. It is not a large forest with a lake Kruzhok. This lake is very small and almost round shape, that’s why it is called so. We had been going through the forest for two hours, but we were not tired very much.

So, when we’d just arrive, we immediately began to set up our tents. Then we ate a snack and rested a bit. Soon it was getting dark, so we made a fire. We were sitting around the fire and talking to each other. It was fun, cool and a little scary.

The next day I got up early, because I wanted to go fishing. I am very fond of fishing and never miss an opportunity to sit with a fishing rod on the coast. It was a lucky day for me: I caught two big fish and one small. But I let all of them return to the water, because I don’t like to eat fish.

When I returned to our camp my friends were still sleeping. I woke them up and we had breakfast. Then we were swimming in the lake, playing with the ball, joking and laughing all the time. But by Sunday evening we should to be home, so soon we packed our bags and went home. It was a fantastic weekend. I hope that next summer we will repeat this trip.

Travelling gives us an opportunity to meet new interesting people, learn new languages, taste different national dishes and develop our skills. That’s why I’m trying to travel as much as possible.

Last year I visited New-York, USA. I got there by plane. It took me more than 8 hours. The most exciting thing I saw was the Empire State Building. I had a fantastic time and learned a lot about this marvelous and famous landmark.

The first thing I’ve noticed about this beautiful building is that it looks like a giant pencil, with a tall and pointed top. I caught my breath when I rose my head to see it at first. The architecture of the Empire State Building is gorgeous.

There was so much to see and do inside the tower. There were two observations with spectacular views, lovely coffee shops, and some souvenir shops. I’ve bought several postcards so that I will always remember that day.

I felt a little sad when it was time to live. I had a good time in New-York and I hope to go there again next winter.

The best trip I’ve ever had in my life was to France. Although it happened two years ago, but I still recall this wonderful time with a great pleasure. I went there with two of my friends and it was really the right decision, because we travelled by coach and the journey took a long time.

We were playing cards on the way, singing songs and joking all the time. As we arrived we checked in a hotel not far from the center. We were exhausted but in a good mood.

The first day in Paris was fantastic. It was a bus tour around the city called Open Tour. We got on a bus at the nearest stop. It was amazing that it stopped in front of all sights, so we could get off and walk around the most famous places.

We took thousands of photos of Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Arch of Triumph and other monuments. We were impressed by the number of tourists and the beauty of the places we visited. We spent 4 other days in Paris, but this first time our impressions were thrilling.

The next days we visited plenty of museums and had some time for small shopping to buy souvenirs. Last evening we went on a small excursion by boat. It was amazing to be on board and to see all the sights again as if they were saying goodbye to us.

Thus, it was fantastic time and I hope to come back to Paris one day to get the same marvelous emotions there.

To sum up, it seems that international tourism is a good way of having a rest, but do not be upset if there are some problems with getting a visa. However, it must be remembered that if you think positively your holidays are going to be terrific!

majority of people stayed to have holidays in their country.
Today the situation is different and the world seems much
smaller.
It is possible to
book a holiday to a seaside resort on the other side of the
world. Staying at home, you can book it through the Internet or
by phone. The plane takes you straight there and within some
hours of leaving your country, you can be on a tropical beach,
breathing a super clean air and swimming in crystal warm water
of tropical sea.
We can travel by
car, by train or plane, if we have got a long distance tour.
Some young people prefer walking or hitch-hike travelling, when
you travel, paying nearly nothing. You get new friends, lots of
fun and have no idea where you will be tomorrow. It has great
advantages for the tourists, who want to get the most out of
exploring the world and give more back to the people and places
visited. If you like mountains, you could climb any mountains
around the globe and there is only one restriction. It is money.
If you like travelling, you have got to have some money, because
it is not a cheap hobby indeed. The economy of some countries is
mainly based on tourism industry. Modern tourism has become a
highly developed industry, because any human being is curious
and inquisitive, we like leisure, visit other places. That is
why tourism prospers.
People travel
from the very beginning of their civilization. Thousands years
ago all people were nomads and collectors. They roamed all their
lives looking for food and better life. This way human beings

We can travel by car, by train or plane, if we have got a long distance tour. Some young people prefer walking or hitch-hike travelling, when you travel, paying nearly nothing. You get new friends, lots of fun and have no idea where you will be tomorrow. It has great advantages for the tourists, who want to get the most out of exploring the world and give more back to the people and places visited. If you like mountains, you could climb any mountains around the globe and there is only one restriction. It is money. If you like travelling, you have got to have some money, because it is not a cheap hobby indeed. The economy of some countries is mainly based on tourism industry. Modern tourism has become a highly developed industry, because any human being is curious and inquisitive, we like leisure, visit other places. That is why tourism prospers.
People travel from the very beginning of their civilization. Thousands years ago all people were nomads and collectors. They roamed all their lives looking for food and better life. I should say it was a great trip and we saw lots of famous sights. I think people travel for various reasons. Some want to visit the places of interest, others want to swim and sunbathe at the sea shore. Some want to go on cruise while others want to work or study in foreign countries. There are people who simply want to make new friends. There are also cases when sick people need treatment in other countries. Tourism has made all these aims achievable.
I think tourism has almost no disadvantages, except making people less patriotic. With the development of international tourism, people have become less interested in culture and the attractions of their native country. In fact, our country has a great number of wonderful places to offer.

People like travelling. It is very interesting and exciting way of spending free time. One of the most favourite ways of spending holidays is hiking trip. If you choose it as the way of spending a holiday, it can mean that you will go on an excursion or go walking.

Hiking trip means a walking tour of short duration. As a rule, it is a particular route. Once I was on hiking trip. It was the time when I spent my holidays at the seaside. It was the Black sea, actually. My family and I spent much time on the beach, sunbathing and swimming. One day we decided to make our holidays more interesting and chose a hiking trip.

It was a walking tour to the waterfall. We woke up early in the morning and called a taxi to get to the place where the trip began. When we got there, first of all, we got the recommendations for the safe trip such as to beware some animals and not to litter.

Then we continued our trip and at last got to the waterfall. We liked it and took many photos there. At last we got back to the place where we began our trip. We enjoyed our hiking trip very much.

Я очень люблю путешествия. Они приносят новые впечатления и делают жизнь ярче. Мое любимое средство передвижения – поезд. Самолет слишком быстрый. Когда ты путешествуешь на поезде, ты чувствуешь дорогу. Мне нравится звук колес. В поезде я обычно сажусь у окна и читаю книгу. Иногда я лежу и слушаю аудиокнигу.
У меня нет любимых стран. На мой взгляд, все страны – хорошие места для путешествий. Мне нравится путешествовать в другие российские города, равно как и путешествовать за границу. Из российских городов я была в Новосибирске, Екатеринбурге, Москве, Иркутске, Хабаровске, Владивостоке и Южно-Сахалинске. Я также съездила на Алтай.
Я также была за границей. Я ездила в Польшу, Чехию, Финляндию, Швецию, Данию и Норвегию. Последняя мне понравилась больше всего. Норвегия – страна с невероятной природой; у меня осталось много ярких впечатлений. Я думаю, что впечатления – важнейшая часть любой поездки.
В заключение я хотела бы сказать, что путешествия – это лучший способ провести отпуск. Лучше съездить куда-нибудь, чем потратить деньги на вещи. Потому что вещи временны, а воспоминания бесценны. Так разве это не лучший способ отдохнуть?

Tourism

Twenty years ago not many people traveled overseas for their holidays. The majority of people stayed to have holidays in their country. Today the situation is different and the world seems much smaller.
It is possible to book a holiday to a seaside resort on the other side of the world through the Internet. Staying at home, you can book it through the Web or by phone. The plane takes you straight there and within some hours of leaving your country, you can be on a tropical beach, breathing a super clean air and swimming in crystal warm water of tropical sea.
We can travel by car, by train or plane, if we have got a long distance tour. Some young people prefer walking or hitch-hike traveling, when you travel, paying nearly nothing. You get new friends, lots of fun and have no idea where you will be tomorrow. It has great advantages for the tourists, who want to get the most out of exploring the world and give more back to the people and places visited. If you like mountains, you could climb any mountains around the globe and there is only one restriction. It is money. If you like traveling, you have got to have some money, because it is not a cheap hobby indeed. The economy of some countries is mainly based on tourism industry. Modern tourism has become a highly developed industry, because any human being is curious and inquisitive, we like leisure, visit other places. That is why tourism prospers.
People travel from the very beginning of their civilization. Thousands years ago all people were nomads and collectors. They roamed all their lives looking for food and better life. This way human beings populated the whole planet Earth. So, traveling and visiting other places are the part of our consciousness. That is why tourism and traveling are so popular.
Nowadays tourism has become a highly developed business. There are trains, cars and air jet liners, buses, ships that provide us with comfortable and secure traveling.
If we travel for pleasure, by all means one would like to enjoy picturesque places they are passing through, one would like seeing the places of interest, enjoying the sightseeing of the cities, towns and countries.
Nowadays people travel not only for pleasure but also on business. People have to go to other countries for taking part in different negotiations, for signing some very important documents, for participating in different exhibitions, in order to exhibit the goods of own firm or company. Traveling on business helps people to get more information about achievements of other companies, which will help making own business more successful.
There are a lot of means of traveling: traveling by ship, by plane, by car, walking. It depends on a person to decide which means of traveling one would prefer.

Бизнес-поездки помогают людям получать большее количество информации относительно достижений других компаний, что поможет создать более успешное дело.

Дать краткое и при этом полное определение понятию
«туризм», из-за многообразия выполняемых им функций и большого числа
форм проявления, довольно сложно. 

Путешествие – это передвижение по какой-либо
территории, акватории с целью их изучения, а также с общеобразовательными,
познавательными,  спортивными и другими целями. До 18—19 вв.
путешествия были одним из основных источников получения сведений о тех или иных
странах (их природе, населении, истории, хозяйстве), общем характере и
очертании поверхности Земли.

Туризм (франц.
tour – тур, прогулка, поездка) – путешествие (поездка, поход) в свободное
время, один из видов активного отдыха. В зависимости от цели путешествий туризм подразделяется
на: познавательный (экскурсионный) – посещение привлекательных мест, осмотр
культурных, исторических, природных и др. достопримечательностей; спортивный
туризм – участие в спортивных мероприятиях; любительский – охота, рыболовство и
прочее; так называемый пригородный туризм – массовые краткосрочные выезды
больших коллективов, отдельных групп и лиц за город, в том числе в специальные
зоны отдыха; туризм с социальными целями – участие в общественных мероприятиях;

В 1993 году
комиссия ООН приняла следующее определение: туризм – это

Таким образом,

туристами чаще называют людей, потребляющих услуги туроператоров, а

travel, trip и journey

Как
известно, Travel broadens the mind
(Путешествия расширяют кругозор). Неважно, будет ли это короткая поездка на машине
или большое путешествие с долгим перелетом — выбираться в места, где ты не
бывал, интересно всегда. Особенно, за границу (abroad).

В
английском языке есть несколько существительных-синонимов, связанных с темой
путешествий.

Travel
(путешествие)

Travel — наиболее часто
употребляемое слово для обозначения путешествий. В прямом
переводе глагол «to travel» переводится, как «путешествовать»,
но в зависимости от контекста его значение может трактоваться
и по-другому — «отправиться» или «поехать».

World
travel gives people a new perspective — Путешествия по миру помогают людям
взглянуть на все по-новому.

Слово
travel употребляется в случаях, когда мы говорим о путешествии в целом,
как о явлении. Поэтому в английском языке оно часто употребляется в составе более
сложных существительных:

слово journey используется для обозначения длительности поездки или
пройденного расстояния. В русском языке наиболее близкие значения — это «дорога»

Every
year my friend and I go to the South for holidays. The Black Sea is one of the
most wonderful places which attract holiday-makers all over the world. There
are many rest-homes, sanatoriums and tourist camps there.

But
it is also possible to rent a room or a furnished house for a couple of weeks
there. Sometimes, we can place ourselves in a tent on the sea shore enjoying
fresh air and the sun all day long.

As
a rule, I make new friends there. In the day-time we play volley-ball, tennis,
swim in the warm water of the sea and sunbathe.

In
the evening I like to sit on the beach watching the sea and enjoying the
sunset. I’m fond of mountaineering. So I do a lot of climbing together with my
friends. Time passes quickly and soon we have to make our way back. We return
home sunburnt and full of impressions.

Should
you ask me what kind of transport I like best I’d speak in support of trains.
With a train you have speed, comfort and pleasure combined.

What
place is more interesting than a big station? There is the movement, the
excitement, the gaiety of the people going away and sorrow of those who are
seeing others off. There are the shouts of the porters as they pull luggage
along the platforms to the waiting trains, the crowd at the booking-office
getting tickets, the children tightly holding on to the skirts of their
mothers, and passengers hurrying to board the train.

At
last you manage to make your way through the crowd, closely following the
porter, who has taken care of your luggage, and get out on to the platform.
There are many tracks and trains there. No need for you to look round and read

show your ticket to the guard and in you go into a most wonderful carriage. All
is bustle and confusion, with people fil­ing in, bumping into each other, and

you have scarcely time to kiss and hug your friends when the station-master on
duty, in a red cap, signals the train. You hear no shrill whistle of the engine
— the train pulls out of the station noiselessly and without a jerk.

You
are on your way. You start up a conversation with your fellow-passengers
(people take to each other quickly when trav­elling) and soon you get to know
who is who and what. Now that the excitement of the day is over you begin to
feel hungry.

The
dining-car steward happens to come along and you take bookings for lunch or
dinner, whichever it might be. As you go for the second sitting you have time
to wash. By that time the guard has made your bed. You take your towel and go
to the toilet.

You
feel tired now, after a hearty meal, so you decide to turn in. You get into
your upper berth and begin to absorb the beau­ty of the changing scenes that
fly past you — the cheerful fields of wheat and com, the meadows under a mantle
of flowers, grass and green moss, the rivers that run through woodland
countries, the forests with their delicious sense of peace, and the moun­tains
ribbed with sharp steep ridges.

But
drowsiness creeps over you. You close your eyes and soon drift away into that
vast mysterious world which men-call sleep.

No wonder that one of the
latest means of travelling is travelling by plane. Nowadays people mostly travel
by air. It combines both comfort and speed and you will reach the place of
destination very quickly. No doubt, travelling by air is the most convenient
and comfortable means of travelling. But if you are airsick the flight may seem
not so nice to you. Unfortunately sometimes the flights are delayed because of
unfavourable weather conditions, and one more inconvenience is jet-lag.

Before boarding the plane
you must check in at the airport. Passengers are requested to arrive at the
airport one hour before departure time on international flights and half an
hour on domestic flights. You must register your tickets, weigh in and register
the luggage.

The economy class
limitation is 20 kg. First-class passengers are allowed 30 kg. Excess luggage
must be paid for. Passengers are permitted, to take only some personal
belongings with them into the cabin. These items include handbags, brief-cases
or attaché cases, umbrellas, coats and souvenirs bought at the tax-free shops
at the airport. Each passenger is given a boarding pass to be shown at the
departure gate and again to the stewardess when boarding the plane.

Before the plane takes
off the stewardess gives you all the information about the flight, the speed
and altitude. She asks you to fasten the belts and not to smoke. She will take
care of you during the flight and will help you to get comfortable in your
seat. Inside the cabins the air is always fresh and warm. The captain will
welcome you on board; tell you all about the flight and the interesting places you
are flying over. During the flight you can take a nap or have a chat, you can
read and relax. In some planes you can watch video or listen to the music.

When the plane is landing
or taking off you have an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful scenery and
landscapes. While travelling by plane you fly past various villages and cities
at the sight of which realize how majestic and tremendous our planet is. Do not
forget your personal belongings when leaving the plane.

Landing formalities and
customs regulation are about the same in-all countries. While still onboard the
plane the passenger is given an arrival card to fill in, he fills in (in block
letters) his name in full, country of residence, permanent address, purpose and
length of visit; and address in the country he is visiting. After the passenger
has disembarked, officials will examine (check) his passport and visa (to see
if they are in order).

In some countries they
will check the passenger’s certificate of vaccination. When these formalities
have been completed the passenger goes to the Customs for an examination of his
luggage. The passenger is required to fill in a customs declaration form. He

Travelling is one of the
most pleasant pastimes for me. I love seeing new places, meeting new people and
learning about other cultures. There are many ways to travel, for example, by
train, by plane, by bus, by car, by ship. I prefer travelling by car, because
it gives the freedom of movement.

There is nothing better than travelling by
a fast car. Travelling by car opens plenty of opportunities from the
comfort of your seat. It is a more personal experience, for there you can drive
yourself. You just sit down at the steering wheel, start the motor, step on the
accelerator with your foot and off goes the car. You can go as slowly or as
fast as you wish, stop when and where you choose; you park the car on the side
of the road, get out and go wherever you like.
   It is quite true that driving a car has some disadvantages. In
town it is rather a nuisance with all those traffic «jams» or «hold — ups»,
round-abouts, detours and so on. It is not pleasant at all when you ride on a
bumpy road or get a flat tyre, or still worse, when you get stuck in the mud.

 But what can be better than a spin
in a car on a week-end with your friend? As soon as you get out of the crowded
town and see a long wide road in full view, what a thrill it is to feel the car
rush forward at a touch of your foot, to feel the wind in your face, to see
houses, trees find people flash past, to feel the real joy of speed.

   Suppose you are on vacation
and have decided to take a trip in a car. What magnificent views you behold on
your way — green fields, a road winding its way up the mountain with steep,
grey cliffs on one side and a deep precipice on the other, a shining expanse of
the sea wrapped in a blue noonday haze, the woods, the rows of acacia that
stretch along the streets of the towns you pass through. Indeed your
impressions are unforgettable.

Of course, every travel mode has its pros and
cons. Everybody would agree that travelling by car is fast and comfortable. You
don’t have to wait for the right time, as you do with public transport. You
have enough privacy and you don’t have to share space with strangers. You can
listen to your favourite music or radio channel. You can park wherever you
need, which is impossible when travelling by train or plane. However, there are
certain disadvantages. For example, cars are considered to be the most
dangerous means of transport. There are thousands of car accidents on the
roads. Apart from that, petrol is getting more and more expensive.
Unfortunately, modern cars cannot function without it. Last but not the least
the drivers have to change the car wheels depending on the season. Despite all
these disadvantages, I still like travelling by car and find it to be the most
comfortable way of travel. I hope to buy my own car when I’m older.

My Trip to the Polish Tricity

This summer I flew to Gdansk, to the Baltic Sea with my parents and my older sister. It was my first flight on an airplane, and I think I will remember it for the rest of my life, because I was looking forward to it! Plus, this was my first trip abroad.

We had a four day tour during which we visited Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia. First we flew to Gdansk, arrived at the hotel and rested after the flight. Then we went for a walk to the old town. The Vistula River flows through the city. In the old part of the city, old houses with charming architecture stand on one side of the river, and new houses are being completed on the other side. I really liked that they are built in a similar style, but in a modern way. We tried a few traditional dishes, but I didn’t really like them.

The next day we went on the river and then by sea by boat to Sopot, a neighboring resort town full of hotels, spas, and restaurants. In Sopot, we walked along small cozy streets with old beautiful houses. I really liked the neat balconies on many of them. We sunbathed a bit on the beach and ate some waffles with whipped cream. It was very tasty.

On the third day of our tour, we went to Gdynia. Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia are three bordering cities. They are called Tricity because they practically merge together. Gdynia is the youngest of these cities. We walked along the embankment and entered the military ship-museum, as well as the city museum. I was fascinated by how friendly people live here and how leisurely they enjoy life.

I am very glad that we got out on such a journey. I saw the Baltic Sea, admired the architecture of European cities, tried new dishes, although I didn’t really like them. I would like to visit other countries to get the same vivid impressions.

Часто ученики — дети и взрослые — испытывают трудности с написанием сочинений на английском даже не из-за слабого знания языка, а из-за того, что не знают, о чем писать и как. Приведем несколько идей для раскрытия темы и советы относительно того, как облегчить написание сочинения.

Вот несколько вариантов раскрытия темы:

• Traveling (Путешествия) — их преимущества, причины, по которым люди путешествуют, ваше отношение к путешествиям, в чем могут быть сложности и т. д.;
• My Trip (Моя поездка) — рассказ о конкретной поездке, экскурсии, путешествии;
• Traveling of My Dream (Путешествие моей мечты) — сочинение об идеальном путешествии;
• Facts about Traveling (Факты о путешествия) — необычные факты о путешествиях, экспедициях, малоизвестные открытия, истории о знаменитых первооткрывателях и т. д.
• Traveling Tips (Советы для путешествий) — лайфхаки и советы, которые могут облегчить жизнь путешественникам, тематические списки и т. д.

Когда вы определитесь с темой, важно составить план эссе. Это поможет структурировать мысли и изложить их последовательно. Сочинение должно состоять из вступления, основной части, и заключения.

Во вступлении осветите тему, которую будете раскрывать в последующих абзацах. Вступление должно быть ярким и цеплять читателя сразу, чтобы ему хотелось продолжить чтение. Используйте фразеологизм о путешествиях, цитату известного человека, шутку по теме, чтобы заинтересовать читателя, и плавно подведите его к раскрытию темы.

Каждый последующий абзац должен содержать свою идею, но при этом логически подводить к следующему абзацу, и все предложения должны гармонически складываться в эссе. Избегайте сложных предложений. Излагайте свои мысли кратко и емко.

Составляя план, выделите по одному главному предложению для каждого абзаца — это и будут идеи. Затем обыграйте каждое предложение еще несколькими предложениями, детализируйте, уточняйте, приводите факты и примеры из жизни. Каждый из абзацев основной части эссе должен содержать 3-5 предложений. Не стоит писать сочинение длиной более пяти абзацев, если, конечно, в задании не требуется иначе.

После основной части напишите заключение, которое будет связывать все сочинение воедино и кратко подводить итоги всего вышесказанного. Не добавляйте новой информации в эту часть эссе. Красиво оформленное заключительное слово оставляет приятное впечатление завершенности. В зависимости от выбранной темы, вы можете написать, за что любите путешествия, почему они важны, чего человечеству удалось достичь благодаря путешествиям, или, например, сколько времени/ денег человек может сэкономить, воспользовавшись советами из вашего эссе.
