My hearth is Dagestan
Daghestan, you are my love and my vow, my supplication and my prayer.

There are a lot of wonderful places in our country, but for me there is nothing more beautiful than our native land-Dagestan. Dagestan is our Motherland. Here is our hearth. Nowadays our region is not considered to be the most prosperous place, but, actually, it is the birthplace of noble traditions, unique crafts, proud horsemen and lovely mountain girls. So many magnificent lines Dagestan poets have devoted to their homeland. The poems of R. Gamzatov, S. Stalsky, Ph.Alieva, R.Rashidov are full of sincere love, sensitivity, kindness to their native Dagestan.
Most of all I appreciate our traditions and customs. They have helped to preserve peace and harmony in the multiethnic Dagestan. First of all, I’d like to highlight the tradition of hospitality and kinship. «Guest is a sacred thing» said our great-grandparents. More than that, respect for the elderly is an important value for our region. Tips of the elderly are an essential law for the youth. Dagestan people love the homeland so much that put all their senses in art. Gorgeous Kubachi jewelry, daggers and swords of the Dagestan masters, carpets of local artisans are well known all over the world. Finally, one of the most significant traditions is mutual assistance. You can verify it both in everyday life and in a period of great trials.
In conclusion, I’d like to add our republic is an incredibly picturesque area with ancient culture and responsive people. For me Dagestan starts with my tiny mountain village. It is my ancestors’ home, my parents live and work here and every rood is very important for me.
Я горжусь тем, что родился в Дагестане. Мой край расположился на самом юге России и занимает огромную площадь. Столица моей родины — замечательный город Махачкала. Вся республика — это невероятно красивая местность, изысканная культура и добрый, отзывчивый народ.
В Дагестане издавна мирно живут более сотни народов. Именно из-за этого разнообразия наши люди говорят на множестве разных языков: татском, чеченском, арийском, лезгинском, русском, аварском, кумыкском и других. Радио, телевидение и СМИ так же освещают последние события и проводят программы на этих наречиях.
Мне нравится, что в моем краю больше всего ценится человеческое достоинство. С самого детства нас учат беречь честь и благородство, ведь это главное, что есть в душе и будет оставаться там до самой старости. Немаловажна для нас и семья. Как бы ни складывалась наша жизнь, мы всегда помним о родне. Считается, что все о человеке можно узнать лишь по тому, как он относится к своей семье.
У нас есть множество традиций, которые характеризуют дагестанцев со всех возможных сторон. Во-первых, мы ценим нашу религию, Веру, а потому прежде, чем кушать, мы просим Аллаха благословить еду. Во-вторых, мы ценим настоящий, честный человеческий труд. Именно поэтому каждый раз, когда нам встречается работник, мы всегда желаем ему хорошего дня и плодотворной работы. И в-третьих, дагестанцы так любят свою Родину, что все свои чувства вкладываем в искусство. В нашей культуре есть огромное множество стихов, песен, басен, поговорок и картин, посвященных Дагестану.
Я горжусь тем, что я — дагестанец. Мне радостно от осознания того, что мне есть что сказать о своей Родине. Это огромное счастье, что мне довелось родиться в такой сильной духом республике, и каждый из нас помнит о том, что мы — русские.

I am proud that I was born in Dagestan. My Land is located in the south of Russia and occupies a huge area. The capital of my homeland — a wonderful city of Makhachkala. The entire republic — is an incredibly beautiful area, gourmet culture and kind, sympathetic people.
Long live peacefully over a hundred peoples in Dagestan. It is because of this diversity of our people speak many different languages: Tat, Chechen, Aryan, Lezgin, Russian, Avar, Kumyk and others. Radio, television and the media also highlight the latest developments and carry out programs in these dialects.
I like that in my edge of human dignity is valued most. From childhood we are taught to protect the honor and dignity, because it is important that there is in my heart and will remain there until old age. Another important factor for us and the family. No matter how evolved our lives, we are always mindful of kin. It is believed that all of man can only be known by the way he treats his family.
We have a lot of traditions that characterize the Dagestani from all possible sides. Firstly, we value our religion, faith, and because before eating, we ask Allah to bless the food. Secondly, we appreciate the real, honest human work. That is why every time we encountered an employee, we always wish him a good day and fruitful work. And thirdly, the Dagestani so fond of their homeland, that all your senses are investing in art. In our culture, there are a great many poems, songs, fables, proverbs and paintings devoted to Dagestan.
I am proud that I — Dagestan. I am happy in the knowledge that I have something to say about his homeland. It is a great happiness that I happened to be born in such a strong spirit of the country, and each of us remembers that we — Russian.

The monument to Rasul Gamzatov is one of the most popular tourist attractions, as Gamzatov’s poems are loved by every Russian. – Памятник Расулу Гамзатову – одна из самых популярных достопримечательностей, так как стихи Гамзатова любит каждый россиянин.
If you’re in town, be sure to visit Ak-Gyol park. It is a nice place to walk. Here you can see a Monument to Russian Teacher, visit Museum of Makhachkala City History, buy souvenirs. – Если будете в городе, обязательно посетите парк Ак-Гёль. Это хорошее место для прогулок. Здесь вы можете увидеть памятник русской учительнице, посетить музей истории города Махачкала, купить сувениры.
The city is served by Uytash Airport. – Город обслуживается аэропортом Уйташ.

I would like to tell you about my
homeland, about Dagestan. I could tell you long stories or poems about that
beautiful land, but I need to write only a short essay, so let’s consider some
facts about this place in the earth, which can be called the pearl.
Dagestan is one of the republics of the
Russian Federation. It is the one which is the most southern in the
North-Caucasian Region! The capital of my country is Makhachkala. It is one of
the largest and most beautiful cities in the south of Russia.
The name of my beautiful country comes
from the word “mountains”, “Dagestan” means the land of mountains, and it’s
really so!
Dagestan is situated above the coast of
the most beautiful sea of the world – of the Caspian Sea. There are many rivers
– Terek, Sulak, Samur and others, which bring their waters to the sea.
Dagestan is rich in historical and
cultural monuments. There are over 8 000 monuments in Dagestan that are
under federal protection. Some of them are truly unique ones as the 7th
century Naryn-Kala fortress. This is
inexpressible sense when you fell the time going back, when you can imagine the
original view of the place.
Dagestan is the land, where many-many nations live together.
It is the most poly-national in the world – Lezgins, Tabasarans, Avars, and, of
course, Russians, live there together for many long centuries.
Summarizing, I want to invite everybody to
visit my Dagestan, the pearl of the Caspian’s countries!
Dagestan — my homeland
A person without a motherland is like a nightingale without a song. I am grateful to God for being born in Dagestan. It`s my motherland! I remember my childhood full of adventures spent in green valleys with my grandfather. He used to say: «Homeland is more worth than gold».
Some people think Dagestan is a dangerous place for living and visiting. I strongly believe that visiting Dagestan means entering humanities purest traditional roots. My remarkable mountain kingdom is one of the jewels on the Russian crown. Moreover, Dagestan strikes with its cultural diversity neighbouring with unique monuments of antiquity which add some irresistible and unforgettable charm. Furthermore, anything a person can imagine is here within its territory. It`s a place that offers impressive natural wonders, ancient historical buildings, great history, best cuisine, multiethnic diversity and hospitable people. In addition to this, Dagestan in famous for its ctaftmen: goldsmiths from Kubachi, jewelers from Gozatl, porters from Balkhar, woodworkers from Untsukul, carpetmakers from Tabasaran. As Rasul Gamzatov said: «But Dagestan is the dearest for the soul». Dagestan is my fate, my heart treasure. I really want to be useful for my republic, my native town Derbent. Last year we celebrated two thousand years anniversary of Derbent welcoming guests from all over the world. Derbent- the pearl of Russia is a peaceful and ancient city with great architectural sights like fortress Naryn Kala, the Juma Mosque and the Armenian Temple. Naryn Kala is Unesco`s heritage.
In conclusion, I want to say that each has only one native land and only one mother. I am proud of my homeland.
