book is “Robinson Crusoe”

My favourite book is “Robinson
Crusoe”by Daniel Defo. I’d like to tell you about it.

Robinson Crusoe, a young Englishman, runs away from home.
After a shipwreck, Robinson finds himself alone on a desert island. His
adventures begin. He builds himself a house, learn how to fish and to grow
plants. He doesn’t see any people for 15 years. One day he meets a young man.
Crusoe names him Friday, because he finds him on that day of the week. For
several years the two live happily. A boat with pirates comes to the island.
Crusoe saves the captain of the ship and returns with him to England.

Topic 2. My daily routine.

I love sleeping, so I never get up before 7 a.m. My mum
usually wakes me up. I always have breakfast at half past seven. I go to school
at quarter to eight. School starts at eight  o’clock. We usually have 6 or 7
lessons a day. We have lunch at school. We finish school at about 1 or 2 p.m.

Three times a week(twice a week) I go to the gym/football
pitch/stadium/Art school as I take up sambo(football/basketball/drawing/music).
After school I’m always tired and I never do my homework before dinner. My
brain works best after dinner. In our family dinner is at 6 o’clock. In the
evening I often watch TV or go out with friends.  My favourite programme
is…….I often go to bed at 10 o’clock.

My mum’s name is Sveta.  She is 34.She works as a doctor. She

bit strict.

My dad’s name is Vova. He is 48. He works in a big company.
He is a lawyer/mechanic/driver/worker/salesperson.He does a hard work.

My sister/brother ……..is elder/younger than me. He/she is a
pupil of the 1^st/2^nd/3d grade. He/she is in the
kindergarten/university.

Topic 4 “My free time”моё свободное время.

In my free time I usually watch TV. В моё

I spend about eight hours a week in front of the TV
screen-that’s too much, I know!Я провожу около

Topic 5 The British and their pets.

The British
like pets. In fact one in two families in the UK has a pet. There are 6,7
million dogs, 7.2 million cats, 1.42 million budges, 1.4 million rabbits and
approximately 24.38 million fish. People in the UK spend a lot of money on pet
medicines. And of course pet food is big business, too. Luxury foods for pets
are fashionable and include vegetarian dog food, cat’s milk with extra
vitamins, sugar-free chocolate drops and yoghurt drops. There are many animal
charities in Britain, including the RSPCA (The Royal Society for the Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals) and many homes for abandoned dogs, for example the
famous Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Topic 6 The British weather c. 69

English weather
is the most frequent topic of conversation. It doesn’t rain every day of the
year, so it’s impossible to guarantee good or bad weather in any given month.

In summer most
British people take their holidays because schools break up for the whole of
August. The summer months have the best weather, and the gardens will be in
full bloom.

March and April
are the months when spring arrives and there is a good chance of fine weather,
but some tourist attractions don’t open until May.

In October and
November autumn sets in and it often rains. It’s a good time for wandering
around because the leaves on the trees change to all shades of brown, red and
change.

December
through to February is the winter period in Great Britain. In winter it’s
rather cold and often rains.

I’d like to tell you about my favourite holiday. It‘s New Year.

In England the New Year is not as widely celebrated as
Christmas.

 В Англии Нов.год не так широко
празднуется как Рождество.

The British usually go to a New Year’s dance in a hotel or
dance hall.

Британцы обычно ходят на танцы в отеле или
танц.зал.

However, the Russians have the longest New
Year holidays in the world: they last 5 days
and then comes another official holiday—Russian Christmas.Однако, у русских самые долгие новогодние каникулы в мире:они
длятся 5 дней,затем приходит след.официальный праздник-Рождество.

Russians celebrate Christmas on January the 7^th
and other countries celebrate it on December the 25^th.Россияне празднуютРождество
7января , а другие страны-25 декабря.

Because of different calendars many Russians celebrate the
New Year twice!Из за разных календарей многие россияне празднуют Новый год дважды.

Topic 9 British meals.

One of the
popular myths about the English is that they only eat fish and chips and roast
beef, but the British people also eat many other kinds of food. The traditional
English breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, toast, baked beans and
mushrooms. A typical English breakfast is more likely to be bowl of cereal, a
slice of toast, orange juice and a cup of coffee. In winter many people eat
‘porridge’ or boiled oats. In British schools children have a school meal or
bring a packed lunch, it consists of a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of
fruit and a drink. A traditional British meal for dinner is ‘meat and two
vegetables’. Sunday dinner is the traditional Sunday roast. It consists of
roast meat, two different kinds of vegetables and potatoes with Yorkshire
pudding. 

Topic 10. My school

My school is one of the best schools ever. I like my school
because I’ve met a lot of different people and made new friends there. There
are twenty eight kids in my class. My classmates are fun to play with and they
are smart. I like the teachers. We do really fun stuff.

Also I like the location of the school. I get there on
footby carby bus. It takes 15 minutes.

We do many subjects at school including  English,
Russian,maths,history,geography,physical education, Social studies, Information
and communication technology and others. My favourite subject is English. We
learn foreign words,listen to the native speakers and do a lot of exercises
during the lesson.

Topic 11 My house (flat).

My name`s Dima. I live in Saint-Petersburg with
my family. We live in a flat. My address is 8, Dybenko Street. My flat is big,
comfortable and cosy. I`ve got three rooms: two bedrooms and a sitting room.
There is a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet.

My favourite room is a sitting room. It`s light
and sunny. There is a wall unit, a TV, a musical center and a sofa in the
sitting room.

My parents and I usually watch TV, meet friends,
celebrate parties there. My mother likes flowers. You can see a lot of flowers
in my flat. Every day my mum cleans the rooms and waters the flowers. I help
her. I like my flat because there is no place like home.

Topic 12 My town.

Topic 13. Against using computers.

I’m against
using computers for a number of reasons. First of all, I think that often
become dependent on computers and couldn’t exist without them. Secondly, I
think computer users often become more isolated from others, because they spend
all their time in front of a monitor and never talk to people directly. Furthermore,
computers are addictive and users often spend all their spare time playing
games or surfing the Internet. And finally, there are the physical dangers of
using computers. For example, looking at a monitor for hours is very bad for
your eyes. Also, they say that the electromagnetic rays which come from
monitors are very bad for you.

Topic 14. TV in Russia.

TV has become a
part of daily life in Russia. On average, more than 60% of Russian people watch
television from two to three hours a day. There are 19 national channels to
choose from: First Channel, Russia, NTV, Culture Channels, MTV, etc. Different
quiz shows, soup operas and serials attract a large number of viewers.
Programmes, such as current affairs, documentaries sports, films, plays, the
arts, the news, educational and variety shows give information on everything
from weather to pop-stars’ life. On September 1, 2007 a new children’s TV
channel, Bibigon, was launched. Bibigon produces programmes for ages 4-17. The
most popular TV children’s programmes are ‘Smart Guys and Girls’ on Channel 1
and ‘Good Night, Kids’. The most famous children’s programme  is ‘Good Night,
Kids’. It first appeared on September 1, 1964.

     I want to tell you about my daily routine. I get up at ___ o’clock in the morning and go to the bathroom. I wash myself, brush my teeth and comb my hair. Then I have breakfast.
   At ___ o’clock I leave home and go to school. It is not far  from my house,. On my way to school I sometimes meet my classmates and friends. We talk and discuss things.

I usually have six lessons at school. The first lesson starts at 11:20 in the morning and the sixth lesson finishes at 15:40 in the afternoon. At school we have a lot of subjects: Maths, Russian, Literature, English, Computing, Physical Education and others. We learn a lot of interesting and useful things.
   In my free time I can  watch TV, read books, listen to music,  sometimes I play computer games.
 On my day off I stay at home, sometimes I go for a walk with my friends.
That’s all I wanted to say.

                           5.  My friend

• I have got a close friend. His name is… My friend is in the same form as me. We made friends in the first form. We know each other since the primary school.
• The proverb says “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. People need friends to have fun together, help each other and not to be lonely.
•  My friend studies well. He is a good pupil and a good friend. He often helps me to do homework.

• I like to spend time with my friend. We talk about music and different things. Also we often go for a walk together and meet our friends.
•  Dima is my close friend and I can tell him about my problems. He also shares his ideas with me. I can’t say that we have much in common and we have the same hobby. We like playing chess.
• I like my friend very much and think that we are true friends. That’s all I wanted to say.

      №6  The United Kingdom

I want to tell you about the United Kingdom.

Firstly, the United Kingdom is made up of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast . The UK is situated on the western coast of Europe.

Secondly, in the UK  live  the English, the Scots, the Welsh, the Irish and many other nationalities.

The climate of Great Britain is mild. It is not too hot in summer or too cold in winter. It often rains in England. Snow usually falls only in the North and West of the country.Also in the UK you can visit castles and cathedrals and see beautiful landscapes.In London you can see Big Ben, Tower Bridge, British museum, London Eye etc.  I´d like to visit Britain.

The geographical centre of London is Trafalgar Square with its fountains, a tall column, a monument to Admiral Nelson, and the National Gallery. The Gallery is world-famous and has the largest collection of paintings in the UK. Trafalgar Square is a popular place with tourists from different countries.

Moscow is a great city for tourists. Every year lots of people from different countries come to the capital of Russia to see its places of interest. One of them is the Moscow Metro. Many visitors say that the Moscow Metro stations look like beautiful palaces. And indeed you can see wonderful columns and beautiful sculptures at some of the stations. The Moscow Metro is one of the deepest and busiest metros in the world. When the Moscow Metro opened in 1935, it had two lines. Now it has got more than ten and their number is still growing. The metro trains move very fast and you can easily get to the centre of the city from any other place of the capital.

More than 300 million people live in the US but the country is very big, so there is still a lot of open space.

Different people have different pastimes. Some are fond of sports, some keep pets and spend a lot of time looking after them. My friend Alice enjoys going to the shops. Shopping is her favourite pastime. She can spend hours looking for a new blouse, a beautiful coat or winter boots. I can’t say that shopping is my cup of tea. I hate shopping. Usually there are lots of people in the shops and it takes too much time to find something that you really like. But Alice often asks me to go with her and help her to choose things. I can’t say “no” because we are good friends. So we often go shopping together.

Most people in our country work and study five or six days a week. Saturdays and Sundays are usually days off. I’m not an exception. I study at the sixth form of the secondary school. This year I’ve attending school six days a week. Saturdays are easy days. We don’t have many lessons on these days, so we get home around 12 pm and then we have a whole day ahead. Sunday is a full day off. So I can say that my weekend falls on Saturday and Sunday. To be honest, these are my favourite days of the week. I can sleep as much as I want, I can spend time with my friends, visit the cinema or the pizza place, walk around the nearby mall.

They prepare gifts, make Christmas cake, hang stockings near the fireplace. Children often write letters to Father Christmas or Santa with their wishes. Many of them believe that while they are sleeping Father Christmas comes to visit. They think he is a real old man in red with a big sack of toys, sweets and other presents.

It is the last day of our trip. We are coming back to London tomorrow. The sun is shining brightly again and everybody is happier than in Germany. Brussels is a busy place. Most of all we liked the Brussels cakes which we had in an open-air cafe. Tonight were going to see a football match between Belgium and Scotland. We’ll shout for Scotland. If it wins, we’ll have a party and have cakes and Coke. I’m really enjoying travelling. I think it’s my favourite pastime.Easter holidays are here and I’m going to have a school trip to France. We are leaving tomorrow. We are going to stay in Paris for a day and visit the Louvre.
